AST FIT 400: Anatomy of Filter-in-Tank Systems

The AST FIT 400 is an all in one system comprised of a fish tank, a built in filter, and a sludge basin. These filters continually backwash themselves, only requiring an operator to drain the sludge periodically. This keeps the nitrifying bacteria healthy, so the water stays clean and healthy for the fish. The sludge from the basin can be used as fertilizer, or diverted into an aquaponics system.

what would be the stocking capacity of the tank if you are going to use it to stock catfish and what would be the cost of building a hatchery facility and a grow out facility that can produce up to 3 catfish per year

Thanks for your question Pavan, the FIT line of filters uses our patented direct pneumatic discharge system to pneumatically move the sludge from the charge chamber of the filter using the internal pressure of the pneumatic charge. How many tilapia could you have in these.? Can you grow out from fingerlings with out them getting into the filter? When you connect other fit tanks to make the 2800, is it still just one filter? And again what kind of tilapia numbers would you be able to have? A detailed video of one of the 2800 systems would be awesome, please?

Lucas, The max stocking density that we recommend is 0.5lb fish per gallon of water. If you plan growing fish to 1.5lb at harvest, then you can plan on holding approximately 200lbs of fish or 133 fish in the FIT-400.

Design looks really good! But will it support a biomass of the range of 50 kg/cum?

Thank you for the comment, all of our PolyGeyser filters, including the FIT systems, are designed to support a maximum of 0.5 lbs/gal (60 kg/m3) of biomass in an intensive aquaculture system. However, this stocking density is only recommended for experienced aquaculturist and varies depending on the desired tank ammonia concentration. Thanks again for watching!!
