The DB9 is indeed a timeless design, and reinvigorated my desire to own an Aston Martin again. After a 2-year search, I found a 2007 DB9 in Snow Shadow Gray, with Piano black interior, 32K on the odometer. After putting 50 miles on the odometer, I was looking for the auto-pilot. This car just pampers the hell out of you, and is effortless to drive. The prices of these has just about bottomed out, and if your looking for a bargain luxury icon, look no further than a DB9. Do your homework, shop smart, and be prepared for what the maintenance costs will be, and this car will reward you greatly in the end. It is a true driver's car in the finest sense. I love my Corvettes but, Aston Martin is a whole different kind of love.

Such a lovely car (although the engine is two Ford Ecotec V6s put together at the Ford plant in Cologne!). I rented one in Germany in 2014. It was a very subtle dark grey and attracted enormous attention. As a Grand Tourer it is a bit of a joke as the trunk is tiny and the rear seats quite useless but it was fun to get up to speed on the Autobahn. I managed around 240 kmh but traffic is often an issue and at these closing speeds you can't relax. The car feels very very heavy but very competent, and the sound is fantastic. The interior was nice but dated for this class of car. As much as I liked the DB9 I think I would go with the V8 Vantage 2-seater if I owned an Aston.

Exactly! Especially when using the paddles, with such spread of torque and top end power 6 speeds are perfect, 8 just a pain. The 8 speed is marginally quicker, but unless the stopwatch is your king I'll take driving pleasure every time!

+xcarfilms you are right about Aston Martin. They are company that builds very soulful cars that are iconic in every possible way. Bentley cars just lack the design and flare that Aston's do. I am glad that Aston is a more niche brand when compared to Bentley, because there are way too many Bentley's on the road. The DB9 will be greatly missed for sure, and you are right that this car brought Aston in the modern age. It will be interesting to see if Aston uses a turbo V-8 in the new DB11, but knowing Aston they will still produce an epic soundtrack.
@Vylkeer4 жыл бұрын
DB9 & Vanquish, my fav Astons ever. Alternatively I appreciate the DBS as well, the old type though. I like the latest versions of these like the DBS Superleggera and DB11 but they don’t really represent AM’s design philosophy of the past that I so adore. It’s all about tastes obviously, but I fear they won’t be designing cars like this anymore. New models like the Valkyrie and Vulcan are actually amazing, but they’re in a different car category.

I actually like the elegance of the DB9 - however one thing has to be said: Porsche was always criticised of keeping the basic shape (and the set up) of the 911. But here we are... the only difference of Aston Martin is, that they continuously number their cars... but the overall looks of the DB line is analog of the looks of 911's (which isn't a bad thing!).
