Wow, that Dino is fantastic - can't wait to see what you do with it. And the MGF too - like you, a car I never thought much of back then, but come to realise recently they're great - I want one :) On the Allegro, I have a question. The rear speakers are oval shaped behind round apertures. Won't the cone excursion at the edges hit the surrounding part of the parcel shelf? Even if you've put in some clearance there, speakers can move a long way. If that happens, it really will sound bad... hopefully you've considered this.
@TravisWinters-Privacy36 минут бұрын
Couple of questions; - thinking about engine management have you tried @haltech gear? It would be remiss of me as an Antipodean not to ask. - if George and Luke were keen, I would love to see an interview with them about what they've learned since joining Retropower, both are clearly incredibly capable designers. With the highest respect they're still very young, and I'm curious how they're adapting and shaping what they have learned either at Uni or previously while working with the high capacity fabrication team at RP.

When it comes to flame spraying the vehicle, could stainless steel wire be used instead of Zinc? Just curious about welds after the zinc spraying has been done. I understand that may not be in your particular process, but I had to do some welding on a vehicle that was galvanized from factory and welding 3 layers of sandwiched galvanized panels was…difficult…to get done without porosity. Would a stainless steel coating instead of zinc allow later welding with less porosity?
@18robsmithКүн бұрын
Stainless spraying requires much higher temperatures than zinc, so there is a much higher risk of distortion.
@JoeSmith-qq2ncКүн бұрын
I don't think they spray the zinc until all of the metalwork/welding is finished
@rennkafer1323 сағат бұрын
@@18robsmith plus stainless wouldn't act in the sacrificial manner that zinc does, which is the main point of it.
@forsh354612 сағат бұрын
Even if it were feasible, molten stainless would weld itself to the steel contaminating the stainless steel with carbon rendering it just steel negating the point of it

I've owned British cars, German cars, Swedish cars, Japanese cars, and American cars... from a quality standpoint, the Brits aren't even close to the top of that group, much as I love them anyway. As for custom cars, there are many companies doing Retropower quality work in the US, they've even mentioned some of the companies here they admire.

Before you release that Fiat back into the wild, before you install the new wiring harness, please make it less rusty. It is at least as bad as the DBS, if not worse. And no, there is no method available, nor there has been one in the past that would've prevented it from rotting to biscuits. Even though it looks nice, there will be structural damage underneath. At the very least, soda blast and re-treat the underside. If not for anything else, for safety reasons.

@Retropowercars Nat, can The Den do engine and gearbox swaps? I'm looking to put a large engine and 6-speed box into the car (and accordingly alter spring and dampers accordingly) to take it from shopping trolley performance to something much more fun. I don't particularly need too many custom parts but would like to use as many parts from the OE manufacturer's parts bin from other models as possible, although I may need a custom ECU just for the engine. Thanks.

You have two CAD techs who can presumably draw freehand too, so why not include a sketch of the fabrication you intend to make to accompany the long winded description. For example the E=Type fuel tank. The problem with this channel is there not enough visuals to go with the waffle..

First of all, Allegro seats look brilliant. Does Richard have a team or is he on his own? Definitely needs an apprentice that he can train up, to help him out. I'm surprised the owner didn't go for badges saying "Allegra". Allegro at first glance, but a nod to the Integra . Jensen paint looking phenomenal. With Wasaabi, why did you retain the original SAAB hinges? Why not replace them with something a little more conventional? Surely that would have saved hours of work with the A pillar bases. If it hasn't already been pointed out, there's an error message in the video half way through where a clip failed to import. I understand he's been with Retropower for a long time and is a grafter, but that still doesn't stop Marc being a cock. It's not a "presentation style". Why does he have to insult his workmates? I love the videos and appreciated I have the option to FF.
