The genius of this whole exercise by Red Bull/Aston Martin is we get more Valkyrie and they get data on how customers will probably be driving their car. They can verify their setup is safe for someone who’s good at driving but not a race car driver. They can see all the mistakes and try to engineer the chassis to minimize the danger of the mistakes. Thank you for another wonderful video.

So a Senna and Huayra BC Roadster are the current Spa lap record leaders for a road car in the 2:23-2:24 range. That's within a couple seconds of GT3 car race pace. 29 seconds off that (assuming track pack) and you are looking in the 1:55 lap time range. According to Harry Metcalf, the typical purchase price is close to £4 million. In the grand scheme of things, that's probably value. Sort of...in a World where you can pay £20+ million for a McLaren F1 and over £7 million for a Koeniggsegg somethingorother. What sucks, though, is that none of the cars Aston produces will ever actually see 210mph at Spa. 45 on the Kings Road or Rodeo Drive, maybe. The odd parade lap at a circuit, possibly. I hope I'm wrong.
@burritomaker695 жыл бұрын
7 million for a koenigsegg is a joke. Beautifully made in some regards yes but what you’re getting performance wise really isnt up to par for that amount of money in my opinion. For this 4million you’re getting basically a F1 derived car.

@StoicSpartan yes no. depends on course, and power can overcome weight. look at fighter jets....an open wheel car is expected to have better aerodynamics than a production vehicle obviously. just a question of how much better it is for millions vs the same exact shell made out of stamped aluminum for a few thousand, filled with batteries and a 1500hp electric motor. You'd likely have 2 record setting cars the only issue with the battery car is cooling some aircraft batteries long enough to make it 1 lap or the weight from car batteries like teslas roadster heck you could make a 2 seater tesla roadster car with 200kwh of batteries for some 130k to replace the outdated P100D now if you wanted to and could get production over 10,000 to make it economic and went with a simple aluminum chassis.

My only concern with this car is the tyres! Cars like the P1, LaLa and 918 are totally tyre limited. Yes, they have a significantly lower downforce to mass ratio, but the tyre still has to support those loadings in order to generate grip. Historically, road cars with high DF ratios have actually been rather awful to drive on the road, where realistically you cannot get anywhere near the limits of the car (Caparo T1 anyone......)
