Majora's Mask was created at the peak of Nintendo's creativity. I believe the heavily rushed development helped the game developers keep the idea's and story pure; they didn't really have much time to second guess their creativity and a lot of it went into the game unfiltered. I think this is why a lot of the story feels like a fever dream, but in the most artistic and best way possible. It's truly a masterpiece that would have never been allowed under normal game development circumstances!
@cixlo3 жыл бұрын
But rushing is normal for game development....
@Chris.Holcomb3 жыл бұрын
@@cixlo I definitely agree, but a lot of modern rushing is due to doing things wrong and having to restart. Games like Mass Effect Andromeda were crunched bad due to having to restart after being too ambitious, much like Cyberpunk was. Then you have companies like Activision who skip QA and rush development to pump out as many versions of the same franchise games as they can until people stop buying them. (I.E., Call of duty series, Tony hawk series, Guitar hero series, etc..) Majora's Mask was very unique in the sense they just came off of a massive commercial success and that everything was already in place. They had the team, console, engine, resources and assets all at the ready; The only thing they didn't have immediately available was the games story and world design.
@adamdenardis54382 жыл бұрын
I think what added to it wasn't just the deadline for the game being only a year, it was also the end of the millenium. You had some people who believed it was gonna be the end of the world. 😂
@charlesthomson92762 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree with this, but just to add to it: I think another big factor in Majora's Mask's brilliance is the teaming up of some of Nintendo's most brilliant designers at the time, Aonuma and Koizumi
@chadliterutherford91982 жыл бұрын
Nah that's what you think that's what Nerrel said and you repeated his thoughts, Majora was unique because Koizumi was involved and yes in a way the pressure of Aonuma and Koizumi getting this Zelda project to themselves did lend to more stress/ darker elements being present, but make no mistake Majora is a product of Koizumi and is why no Zelda ever went this dark again, after he was put on Mario indefinitely

I know I'm just a middle schooler and im barely in the real world yet, but themes like this really invoke that feeling of escape and wonder that zelda games give you. Sometimes it's hard to accept this, but if we could live through those times very often, we would not have the same feeling about this song, that we have today.

There was this comment on the original Brawl video that I lost track of even before the channel got taken down that really resonated with me. I'll briefly paraphrase its contents here: "This song is beautiful. It takes the atmosphere of this game and dispels it for as long as you remain in the observatory. Outside the moon is crashing to the ground, and you know that, but listening to this song and staying in the observatory gives you this false sense of security; that everything's going to be ok. And, by astronomical coincidence, this is the place in the game where you can perform the 4th day glitch and prevent the moon from hitting Termina. The observatory really is a safehouse after all." My own paltry vernacular can't come close to fully conveying what I felt when I read that comment, but I only wanted to share some of it with someone else, and hopefully find the original commenter. Maybe they still remember making it. Maybe they remember what they said. I just want to read it again.

They're both Nintendo games that debuted on the same system, so there's bound to be some overlap.

Its cold outside so cold outside. Is it me or does the moon look angry? Or maybe its sad. Sad that everyone passes by and they don't give them a glance. Do you know what a moon tear is? very rare. Its unique, really. No one expects a moon to cry. But in the end, all things can feel emotion. Whats that? Whos on top of that Clock Tower? Its the imp of course. He can feel emotion too. But hes met With a terrible terrible Fate.
