No More Mountains - Hanging out in Longmont Colorado

On this Airstream Life vLog, we made it down from the mountains. Unfortunately, we lost the footage from our trip :( but now we are settled in the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont Colorado. We are here to visit friends but while here we decide to enjoy a bike ride on one of the many bike paths in the area and check out the Saturday farmers market. Fun!

I was a regular at Westview Presbyterian Longmont Co. food bank till covid. I liked this place because it was choose what you use and not pre boxed and a lot of things I would not use but have to let go to waste. Now it looks like they choose for you. It also seems like they are cleaning house and giving out a lot of food gone bad. I think they are using this time to unload everything that has been sitting around with no takers. They don't think it's right to trash food bad or not. The last two times I got closed boxes of things I consider to have turned. Past due dates have been removed some how. By donators or church? I noticed that a lot of volenteers working food bank also working at church late into night the night before food bank. Others foods have been removed from original packaging and put in freezer bags. Does this seem suspicious to only me? Should I be concerned? I think this is going on at all food banks now that they are drive thru. People should be cautious about food hand outs. Some may be unknowingly giving out bad food, some may know very well. I will choose to put food banks on hold for now.

I hope if your still in Longmont the hail bypassed you. Unusual for us to get large hail, however, we did see it golf ball size just south of you in Louisville. We are in Broomfield and was about 1/2 the size of that. Check out Union Reservoir east of Longmont if you want to hit the water, they rent SUP boards, reasonable, small admission fee ($8), sand beach, swimming area, fun to cool & SUP...

We're in Wyoming now. We had pea sized hail the other day it sounds like we should be really really glad we left when we did. Big hail and Airstreams don't miss well. Thanks for the recommendation!

The city of Arvada Colorado has been voted #2 in taste and quality in the nation!! My aunt goes to her mother in laws and brings home bottle and jugs of water every week!! Lol😆😆 It is very good water

Longmont: Did you say hi to Mr Money Mustache? And Mr and Mrs 1500 days? MMM uses that bike path. Use the sunscreen. Steve doesn't seem too enthusiastic.

We went to a meetup at MMM headquarters and hung out with Mr & Mrs 1500 days but MMM was out of town. It's a great city!

If the brand of water you mentioned is Eldorado, I recall it being a very highly rated product. And yes it actually is from a natural springs in Colorado (Eldorado Springs outside Boulder), so no worry there (it being "relabeled" city water). :-) In fact, some people who move from CO to other states have Eldorado water shipped to them occasionally. -- BR

How do you handle the hot weather when boondocking with your fur babies?

We have a couple of videos that might answer that. This is how we try to stay cool without A/C: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6eoYpJuptWFnZY . If it is hotter than 90 degrees we have to find A/C for all of us and we will move in order to do that. If we are worried about the temperatures we won't leave the dogs in the middle of the day (or when it is hottest) just in case. If it is hot for all of us we will wet the dogs and ourselves down to help during the worst of it. Worst case scenario if we can't get hookups for A/C, can't run the A/C with the generator for long enough and can't move someplace cooler we'd all pile in the truck and go for a drive in the cool air. Here I thought you said in one of your videos "you hate to pedal" and your parents have electric bikes that you like. I wondered why you had bikes on the front of your truck if you hate to bike. You should try plastic cages on your pedals if you hate to do that. It makes a world of difference when you are biking. You get the push pull action, instead of just push. Yes it does get take getting used to. I actually clip my shoes into my pedals on all my different kind of bikes, but that probably isn't for beginners or people that don't like biking too much. :-) Glad to see you got out on that bike!

Steve doesn't hate to petal...he just isn't going to be going on long 20-mile hard bike rides with a normal bike. He'll save those for an e-bike. Now a nice leisurely 6 miles we can both do! I (Courtney) prefer biking on designated paved or dirt paths. We've tried easy single track a couple of times and it's not my thing. Hopefully, we do more biking soon! Thanks for the suggestion on the plastic cages. We'll look into them!
