Super Mario Galaxy is by far to this day my favourite game of all time. Astro Bot reminds me so much of SMG with the textures n all and I think this will be an amazing game to play. I’m looking forward to picking my copy up!

The levels of Astrobot feels like the opposite of a backrooms-type liminal space, it's often spacious, radiant, and flooded with playful energy that makes you want to go around and explore. Also everything, not just the objects and creatures, but also the air/atmosphere, is delightful and clean.

Probably because the production of this game wasn't as expensive as the bigger IPs, for one, I don't think Astrobot has to make a return to pay expensive VAs like Christopher Judge, or even MoCap actors/models. It's a sensible backtrack from their previous words, and a win for everyone.

What distinguishes Mario Odyssey from Astro Bot is that Mario has wide spaces and exploits enemies in a smart way, and you can return to the game after you finish it because of the challenges, unlike Astro, who has no challenges. These ideas, despite the diversity and fun, Mario has more than one idea, unlike Astro, who has one new idea for each stage and does not diversify to more than one stage.

I mean it looks great, and it's nice to see what a good platformer can look like on something better than a Switch before 2025+, but... the last three games I paid $60 for all took me over 100 hours to _mostly_ complete. Imagine adding additional content for all Sony characters like Crash and Spyro, especially if Astro has a gameplay style like Spyro, and there are stages like Spyro 3 and Crash Twinsanity, and there are boxes like Nitro and others, and there are enemies inside the box, and there are challenges and diversity in the gameplay style like Spyro.
