Thanks for the KZbin video you posted. It would be great if you could post a review of your actual observations with this telescope. It would be especially interesting to hear your impressions and pros and cons compared to other telescopes you've owned.

Thank you. I plan on doing all those suggestions in the future. Also comparing eyepieces. It’s going to take me some time to get there since I have so many other hobbies as well that are time consuming.

A Simply Superb Dream-Machine :-) when only the best will do! Am also a Tele Vue devotee-thank you for this excellent tour! Would love to see a schematic and to feast on a view of the objective. The foam lined case interior needs to be watched for outgassing and breakdown over the years.

Your very welcome and thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video. I also had Televue telescopes. The TV101is and TV127is, both amazing instruments. 👌 Yes regarding the foam case, I never use them for storage of my refractors. I use them for transportation when required, and of course as such, only for a short period of time.

Great video. Do you use a reducer or flattener ?
@edgarslifejourneyvlog

Thank you. I would recommend a flattener to avoid having to crop and loose field. It will correct for field curvature and provide pin point stars till the very edge. But if you really wish to do super wide fields of view and then don’t mind cropping a bit, the reducer would be my choice. There really isn’t one best option, like there isn’t one eyepiece that does it all. It will all come down to your target.

I would also like to add that there are generic combo reducer/flatteners from different manufacturers. These are a compromise and opens up a Pandora’s box on the topic. It’s like the zoom eyepiece. One that does it all or individual eyepieces? In Photography terms for those familiarized with camera lenses, which is better? The zoom lens or the individual prime lenses? And then with reducer/flatteners there are those that are matched by the same manufacturer that builds the telescope and those that don’t match the brand of the telescope with the obvious disadvantages. Kind of like using Nikon lenses with adapters on a Canon body. It’s always best to have the matching gear paired up.

Who makes their glass?

Astro-Physics (Roland) doesn’t always provide details on the exact type of glass used or his sources. Some information can be found in the Astro-Physics gropus.
