It’s way easier, I tried. You can just hug a bunch of walls and then fall a bunch of times on the spiner section checkpoints roof until the checkpoint turns blue, then fly up the chimney and die. Nothing else needed.

The game expects Astro Bot to be in 2D mode. Since you are in 3D, you reached sparks areas that the game no longer thinks you will ever touch, so those sparks are not lethal
