AstroAI 250 PSI Digital Tire Pressure Gauge and Inflator Review

I check tire pressure on both of our vehicles a few times a month. I've tried all kinds of dial and digital tire inflators/gauges that just didn't hold up over time. I bought this to replace a Harbor Freight gun style dial gauge that was off a few PSI, hard to read and I had to hold the air chuck on the valve stem when checking/inflating the tire. I was in the market for a really good digital tire inflator/pressure gauge that wasn't expensive. This gauge has meet all my expectations. Its very accurate and made of stainless steel with brass connectors. I don't have to hold the air chuck in place. The screen lights up automatically and reads the pressure right away. The included valve core tool and twist on air chuck works well. It feels good in my hand and the air hose is very durable and flexible in cold weather.

I have a nearly identical gauge, purchased from Amazon with different branding, that came with really poor instructions. It should have just had a link to THIS video instead. Very detailed!

Are these digital air chucks with gauge repairable,I have the K Tool International that I have been using for some time now and recently I noticed that when I use it to inflate tires,the digits just stay in 00,it does not show the gauge again. Is it possible to diagonose and fix the issue.Anybody that knows should please help.

I haven't used a gas station air compressor in years. Where I live, there is no way to attach this to their hose.

Yea that’s NOT normal. It should display the average between the regulated input pressure from your air source and the tire pressure. Your second test did the average it was suppose to. So why misinform everyone when your unit is defective?

Most likely not. The gas station would have to have a quick connect/disconnect fitting on the air hose. I have yet to see one at a gas station.

I work as an express tech at a dealership.. and sometimes use co workers matco air gauges.. but i wanted my own.. would this be good to use for work? We have an air pressue hose too

I don't see why not. Since mine is only used a few times a week, I can't speak how durable it would be in an all day work environment.

Glade I could help. I actually had two of the HF air gauges, and they both had issues. The AstroAI has been working very well. I use it a few times a week to check the tire pressure in both of our vehicles. I still haven't changed the battery yet. Hot/cold temps don't seem to effect it either.

Good information Pk. I wonder if the digital version could be used at the gasoline station. (I do not own an air compressor). If not, what attachment would be needed?

Hi, normally the air hose at the gas station already has a fixed air chuck on the hose. If that is the case, this one won't work. You can buy a small 8 gal. air compressor for around $150.00. If you have the money and space, it's worth it. If not, you can buy a small compact tire inflator off Amazon for around $40 to keep in your trunk.

Good question. You can purchase the NPT air connectors from any store that sales air tools. (Harbor Freight) Just make sure you have a male and female connector of the same type and size. (It's usually 1/4 size) You will need an air compressor with an air hose. You can do a KZbin search, about air compressor set up, to get a better idea what to look for.

You need to have an air supply coming into the bottom of the air inflator. I'm using an air compressor to supply air. Then press the big silver lever to release air into the tire.

Nice unit, I had to put tape around the thread of my NPT connector because air was leaking out....Over all I like the unit and the way you explained everything in the video...

After watching 3 videos, not a single one of you demonstrated how the air hose connects to the gage. The gage has an attachment that doesn't accommodate the screw on connector on my SLIME air hose which is consistent with other compressors. Wish you'd showed how you connect yours. After all, it is designed to be used with inflation as well as checking pressure.

@@Pk3_Garage talking about connecting the air hose from compressor to the Astro AI Digital Tire Pressure Gauge and Inflator and using the gauge while inflating tire. My compressor has a screw on connector to the tire. My Gauge has the same attachment as yours on the bottom.

Honestly, I didn't think I need to show my air hose connection to the air compressor, because most air compressor air hoses are either a quick connect/disconnect or screwed into the regulator on the air compressor. To answer your question, I use a quick connect/disconnect fitting on the air hose which connects to the bottom of the tire inflator gauge. You should be able to remove the fittings on your air hose to change it.

Thank you. But what I really wanted to see was how you connect the Astro gauge to the air pump at the gas station. Didn’t see that in the video and I can’t figure out which connector to use.

This type of inflator can't connect to a gas station air pump. It uses an air coupler and air chuck. The type used with a home air compressor.

No, you need an air supply from an air compressor. I attached my air hose to the bottom of it, before I put air back into the tire. I did mention that in my video, before I reconnected the tire inflator to the tire.
