Brands: NOCO, GooLoo, HOMPOW, VTOMAN, Povasee, BRPOM, AlphaBot, JF.EGWO, Buture, Veama, AUTOGEN, KeenPower, and Jumper Cables. Jump Starters compared for total cranking amps, ability to start a V-6, Big Block V-8, and diesel engine. Jump starters also compared for battery capacity as a battery bank for charging cell phones, etc. All the jump starters are compared with jumper cables and a super capacitor jump starter. The jump starters with tire inflators are compared for performance inflating a completely flat car tire.
I bought all of the jump starters to ensure an unbiased review. So, thank you for supporting the channel.

I hate how these companies are allowed to lie about the battery capacity of their devices. It's not just jump starters that do this. Just about anything with a battery will have an inaccurate capacity listed. Thank you for your review. Letting us all know which ones are actually good is amazing! All your videos are great!
@BigVictor
@BigVictor 11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure they're actually allowed to lie, it's just no one bothers catching them, and the consequences are minimal. Can't expect Amazon or Walmart to check the quality of the products they sell, right? I mean, do you know how difficult, and expensive it is to check a product's claims? You'd probably need a whole lab, just for battery testing! Perhaps even a team of engineers, with a dedicated support staff! It's not like any guy on a farm could perform an accurate, repeatedly test to accurately measure manufacturer claims... Wouldn't that be neat, though?

I remember when a jump box was the size of a suitcase, weighed as much as a blind date, worked twice when it was tested but not needed, and left you stranded when it was needed.. This is (perhaps) the most important item you test and watching the improvements made year after year is very interesting. A combination of actual data comparing spec's to mfg. claims and real world testing is why 3 MILLION of us value the info we get from this channel.. A couple weeks ago, you asked our opinion about the direction you should go... I still remain solid that straight ahead is the direction you should go.. these re-visit's shows how fast technology progresses.. The super cap. unit in today's test is a perfect example of that.. Maybe next year there will be 2 or 3 such units and the price will come down.. THAT IS WHY WE KEEP WATCHING!!!!

I too remember when a jumpstarter weighed 40-50lbs (because they essentially had a small car battery inside their delicate plastic case back then) and almost NEVER worked when you needed them to work even on full charge. I absolutely love the Li-ion, LI-po, and other lithium chemistry batteries nowadays vs the lead acid and NiCad versions of just a couple decades ago.

@@teamja1088 I had 3 or 4 of the old style jobbys.. I think I tried to get a stranded started started maybe a half dozen times and NEVER was successful with them. The best one was used to top off a basketball with a slow leak every couple days but that is all I got from any of them.. SO, I disassembled them to harvest whatever pieces I could salvage.. They all had a 7 or 8 Ah gel-cell'.. Gel-cell's aren't typically known as "high drain" and the charging circuits were minimal. NOW, I have one that is just slightly bigger than a deck of cards and is rated for a 6 cyl. engine. It has never failed me and has even started a couple V8's.

A few reasons I like the jump start battery over the cables (which I also carry): 1. You can self-rescue. No wandering around, asking for a stranger to help. 2. You can help others and you don't have to position your car in weird spots. 3. When you do help someone, you don't have to connect your car to someone else's janky mess. If they have something wrong with their electrical system, you don't want to mess up your ride. 4. They're great for emergency charging of cell phones. If you get stranded somewhere, most of those chargers will keep your phone topped up for days.

I've had my Gooloo 4000 for a few years, I bought based on test results from this channel, it's one of the best tools I've ever bought. I've used it multiple times on vehicles up to 4.7 L, and it starts them every time, even after it's been sitting under my seat for a year. I also use it as a power bank when camping, and with the 12 volt cigarette lighter adapter, I can plug my air pump in it to inflate an air mattress. I think with the power, cost, and small physical size the Gooloo is an excellent choice. The Noco looks like a beast, but it's much more money and obviously takes up a lot more room.

Include the ones tested in 2022 to show if battery age is a factor. Most users won't fully charge their booster before using it, many (myself included) charged it once and left it in the trunk.

Used it a bunch last winter without charging it, when it was in the 60% range I charged it and threw it back into the car. After a year of sitting in there not touching it, display shows 91% life left. I bought it brand new last year.

Since you're in the great white North, I'd also like to request a mid-winter test of a cold soaked engine but a warm jump starter. If a jump starter passes that you could do a cold engine/cold jump box test. That would be a very real world, valuable test.

Has NOCO's build quality increased? 7-8 years ago when li-ion packs were still relatively new to the market, the tear down videos if NOCO jump packs showed how terrible their internal electronics were. My favorite has been the Gooloo 4000 by far. I've jumped a minimum of 500 cars with it and it's still as strong as ever. I bought a second one just because of the price. @@jacobmanalang8162 if you are doing roadside assistance as a job. You definitely need a bigger box like the jnc660 because the Gooloo will only stay on around 10 seconds and sometimes that alternator don't kick on so the bigger boxes help in those situations . @@user-ty2uz4gb7v maybe friends and family duty? The V6 Camaro I have is a strange bird, its starter current draw typically peaks at about 600A, highest I've seen, and the OEM battery required for it is usually large, maybe because they anticipate that. Rear mount battery may not help with the starting abilities either, but that's the car that's made the most use of the jump packs. It seems to just depend on where the engine stops whether it's a hard start or not, because most of the time it's fine, and just occasionally it doesn't crank. The battery seems to test okay, and does fine 90% if the time, though it could maybe use a refresh. With the backup of the jump pack, I can hold off and see when it becomes more consistent.

Ive got the smaller version (GBX55) of that noco and am VERY happy with it. It can start my 6.6L Duramax when both of the batteries are dead. I really like that I don't need a special charger for it, it uses USB-C, just like my phone.

I bought the Audew charger after your first charger video shootout a few years back. Still have both of them! One of them winched a 2007 Lexus RX350 up a steep incline TWICE before burning up the contacts inside the electronics for the jaws (where the LED is). Had to winch it twice because the winch was failing, and popped into neutral once I got the vehicle all the way up on my trailer! I had to slam it in gear to stop the vehicle from hitting a stone wall! Didn't even break the winch! (that was a T-Max EW-6500 - real stout!!) But I was super impressed at the power that jump pack had! I am STILL using it today! The capacity is down a bit (may have cooked some of the batteries, lol), but still works - I just had to gut the safety, so I have to be careful after I plug the jaws in. Time to buy some for dad, and an extra to have around the house, so I'll be looking at either the NOCO or GooLoo. Thanks again!! 👍👍

This is really useful info because hardly anyone is going to test their jump starter until they really need it, and now we have a better idea of what works and what doesn't.

Another excellent testing by PF. The only other test I wish he performed would be to store each of these jump starters in his car for a year, and then perform the same tests. That way you could determine which jump starters hold/maintain their charge when needed for an emergency situation. Perhaps that test can be in an upcoming video this time of year in 2024?

I saw one of your tests about 3-4 years ago and bought the DB Power jump starter. Over the last few years, I have jump started at least 5 vehicles that were stranded. It seems to work fine and I got a pretty good deal on it.

I've tested a lot of jump starters, the GooLoos have always performed well, but I prefer the Nocos because of their superior clamps, which are interchangeable across most of their products. I also like supporting a family-owned American company.

@trvman1. These portable jumpers can make the difference between waiting 2-3hrs in -25 conditions for someone to actually come along and stop to help or literally 2 minutes to be on your way. No need to rely on others with these things. ✌😉👍

I steer clear of NOCO products, they ruined 2 batteries I had their charger on. I was using them for a backup sump pump and came back to a discharged battery that was new when I connected the charger. Another friend also had trolling motor battery ruined from a NOCO charger. I can't support any company's products that can't function properly and cost me the purchase price of the unit and also ruins the very items they are supposed to work with.

I mean most of those names are just random letters combined. I’ve always found that funny about products made in China. They just use made up words that aren’t English or Chinese.

Good to see these being tested, there are so many knock off brands it’s hard to know which are decent. I didn’t see Hulkman tested, they have 11,000+ reviews on Amazon. I have one and it seems well built and has worked well for me.

I bought my LokiThor last year when the 12V lead acid battery in my EV was dyeing. (In part because my dog's name is Loki!) It did well enough to get me from "Conditions unsafe to shift" to driving home a few times. I eventually replaced the 12V battery. But I now have a jump starter if I need it for me, or for others! I really appreciate the tests and the comparisons that Project Farm puts into these videos! This is awesome public service!
