Hey, Trevor. You know, you're on the verge of being ready to write a book. It won't make you rich, of course, but you should consider it. A labor of love, if you will. In the meantime, keep up the great work and we'll all look forward to your next video installment. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I enjoyed this video. I appreciate how you highlight the strengths of the different set-ups. I have a C8 Edge, and a Spacecat 51 and use them in similar fashion as what you described for planets, galaxies, nebulas, wide-field. I use OSC CMOS cameras. But your results with mono + filters make me wonder if I should do the jump. Thank you for sharing your insight. I've followed your progression for the past couple of years, and it's simply amazing!

I'm ordering an ASI1600 MM Pro with filter wheel and filters this week. Although not as good as the asi2600MM, it's still a very good choice if you don't have the extra 1000 dollars. Leaving in a Bortle 9 zone just forces me to do what is considered "advanced" - shoot narrow-band monochrome- as I have no other choice unless I want to be heavily frustrated. Watching Trevor's videos gave me a lot of hints about what equipment to choose, keep up the good work and clear skies.

Brother, I found your channel not too long ago randomly. You've got such great content and I like your style. The Past year or so I've been into plane spotting. I have a Canon 90d with a Canon 100-400 mk2. Now you've got me wanting to start shooting the stars. I'm looking into a sky tracker. I figure might as well start with what you already have and go from there. Any tips on what I should do? I don't mind spending some $$ to build off what i already have to get a nice setup going. (also, I've been eyeballing a 14mm and other wide angles)

Hi Trevor! Thanks a lot for all the amazing videos and and stunning photos! I always loved the night sky. But in my Bortle 7-8 area there is unfortunately not much to see. Anyway... your videos and the tips and tricks that you are sharing made me to give astrophotography a try. Last week I have purchased my first EQ mount. The telescope (Skywatcher 150/750 PDS) will arrive for Christmas only. Last weekend we had exceptionally dark and clear sky in my area that I had to watch nights sky with my 10 power binoculars. I was sad that I did not have my telescope yet. Unfortunately I missed to mount my DSLM with a 300mm lense onto my EQ mount. Nevertheless I could see the Pleijades and the area around Orion Nebula without any problems. The view was so overwhelming that I knew I have done the right step to start the journey in astrophotography. When I see deep sky photos and after watching with my binoculars I know and going to be moved to tears when taking the first view on the night sky through my telescope and seeing my first photos. Thank you so much sharing all your experiences and encouraging people to start watching the beauty of the universe.

Trevor, seeing the absolutely stunning things you pull out of the sky always reminds me why I got into this hobby in the first place. Seeing these incredible things in our universe with our own eyes, up close and personal....it's always given me this kinda primal connection to the universe. We're artists and we paint the sky with pixels. Keep doing everything you do, man. I hope your holiday is awesome, and we'll see you in the new year!

You know, based on your geographic location, I naturally assumed that you would be a Leafs fan. When I saw the Habs gear in your shed I suddenly knew why I instinctively liked your style. I’m not even a newbie yet as I haven’t invested in anything except software to hone my chops using publicly available data. As I’m retiring in 4 months this is going to be my “keep out of the wife’s hair” hobby. We bought a summer place in New Brunswick that coincidentally happens to a Bortle 3-4 area. Happy wife couldn’t understand why I said “buy it” so quickly.

I find your videos really useful and appreciate what you do. I am, however, limited to making the most of what I have ,, a skywatcher 200pds, HEQ5 Pro, ASI1600 MM Pro, ZWO filter wheels and EAF. Despite my limited equipment, I find that I can take some really nice images of DSOs and a few nearer objects. I think I have a really affordable setup with a good balance of focal length and aperture for the beginner astrophotographer. Of course I will be upgrading, but just wanted to encourage people who may be on a budget.

Hi there. Just a question. When doing the Post Processing, say via Photoshop, how did you determine what the actual colour of the object looks, or should be. Do you reference Hubble, or other Astro photo's taken, or just make them look good, irrespective of what the actual colours are? Where would one actually find a True Colour refernce of the ojects, if such exists? This would then aid the new Astro Photographers, as to how to and to what Colours they need to adjust in their Post Processing. Many thanx.
