I photographed the Milky Way in Paso Robles Ca I used the Rokinon 14mm2.8 with a 20 second exposure got fantastic pictures with a ISO of 1500. I used the 330 rule to get my exposure time

A good tip for milky way photography I found is to divide your lens field of view by 500 and the result will be the shutter speed needed for your milky way photography

Yep, the 500 rule is a good place to start.

The two dark sites near me are about 1.5 hr drives. They are still about Bortle 3 or 4, but much better than where I live on the edge of a city. Nice concise video Wido!

Wouldn't the high iso value introduce grain? How do you handle the noise?
@AstroForumSpace

definitely! There are different ways to handle noise reduction, depending on the software used.

I am just starting astrofotography. But i live in de most light poluted area of the Netherlands (Near Rotterdam/Den Haag) I have a startracker and a sharp 400mm lens and dslr. Is it possible to photagraph M31 near a light poluted area? I dont mind to travel but perfer to stay within a 100/150 km range from home

Nice welcome to the hobby. Andromeda is a broadband target so the darker your skies are the better. This being said, I've tried to capture Andromeda a few years back from my backyard in Utrecht. You can check my attempt here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/labVaX6nf9OFe5I. If you want to image from the Hague, my tips would be to use a broadband light pollution filter and perhaps limit your exposure time to avoid too much gradients from city lights. Good luck!

I’m having trouble finding a star to focus on in live view. I’ve turned my ISO to max (6400 on EOS 2000D) and shutter speed to BULB, but I can’t find any starts bright enough, What do I do?
@hrgunit
@hrgunit 9 ай бұрын
Don't know this camera. For a DSLR I do not think that settings play a part (vs. a Mirrorless). Did you zoom in on the Liveview? If settings matter - try 30/60 sec isof BULB. Bulb is not an long exposure time, it just allows you to control It manually.

@@hrgunit yes, I’ve zoomed in on live view. Right now i seem to get by, by using Jupiter as a focus point

Download a free app like stellarium on your phone or computer. It will show you exactly where the milkyway is from any location and date.

@@AstroForumSpace I already use it. It was just a fun question because people say southern hemisphere look at North and vice versa. What will the equator people do? South or north?
@AstroForumSpace
@AstroForumSpace Жыл бұрын
Lol, that's hard. My best guess is that both polaris and the southern cross are on the horizon for you. As a northy I would guess that what I see close to polaris would be exactly at or even below the horizon for you. Instead you'd be able to see parts of the sky I can't see further south ..I'd guess the best time to watch the milkyway is also in Sumner. But I guess it would be high in the sky for you from north to south.
