FWIW: I have a Cody, and it has the wider wings and the top sail. That version has always been the most beautiful IMHO.

the power lines in the background are at least four times the line length away, line length 100 feet, and as most places have power lines in the background when a photograph is taken especially using a telephoto the picture is foreshortened. Besides this is a spot where many kites and aircraft are flown without mishap and have done for many years. I rest my case.

A D&A manoeuvre is when you pay out a small amount of additional line allowing the kite to drop in a straight line, just before it rests the line is given a short tug thereby putting the kite on it's back. Alterations can then be made to kite or load. To Ascend, a continuous pull on line will ensure the kite ascends gracefully, swiftly at maximum G. If you have to fly kites in close proximity to pylons & trees then YOU have been very lucky. My 5ft Cody never flies below 250ft UK Legal Limit.

I fly my flowform 4 with 1350 ft wire, nice high and stable out there, don't care about air traffic, they are riding, I am standing still.:)

Am I the first to say that flying any sort of kite with electric power cables in the back ground is a No! No!. Don't any of you read the kiters rule book, Do not fly your kite where there are power lines.

Fly your kite at any height that you choose. Fly it right between those seriously electrified cables on towers that cross the county. Fly any kite you want. PR wants you to be safe, but I grant you the freedom to choose your own destiny, wherever it takes you. PR means well, but sounds like a no-it-all to me. Case closed.

If you are flying a Cody at a 100ft then you should about flying a different kite. A Cody kite is a high flier not a miserly 100ft and at that height one can still see the stitches. Flying planes is completely different as there are no strings attached unless they are round the pole, but they do not go past their flying line maximum. At 100ft you are not gaining any skill or getting any experience of a high flyer. You cannot even practice a Drop and Ascend manoeuvre at 100ft.
