Named after its Texas born creator and early kite flyer, Samuel Franklin Cody, this kite became famous for its man lifting abilities during the first world war. It also showed the way ahead for the first aeroplanes. Its a stable flyer with a powerful lift in a steady wind. These two are homemade from my fathers collection.

Thanks for watching this older video. Wow 8 years ago. I must get out the white one and fly it again. Sadly the other Cody ripped with having perished fabric .

Hi Carl, here is Gunter from Germany again. This is a very nice video. I like the Cody. I have made a Cody nearly 15 years ago and it flyes today.

Schorsch Muke Hello Gunter. I agree the Cody kite is an enjoyable kite to fly. It does take a little time to assemble it and needs a good wind to lift it. Would love to see a photo of your Cody one day.

Wow...thanks for the lift Carl...a very enjoyable ride on that Cody. Now I can see what the 'flyer' saw from these wonderful kites... Good one! But now we are going to have to refer to you as the guy at Kite Flying 'Upside Downunder'. You certainly got me giggling this morning. I even went full screen for the flying parts--including the vertigo at the end...ha ha... very entertaining..!

Thanks Priscilla for watching some of my older videos. Glad you enjoyed this one. Sometimes I just play around with a kite and camera and come up with some video that makes a little story. Not very professional but I enjoy the process.

To the contrary...it makes your videos very exceptional and entertaining. If they were poorly exposed...blurry..crummy positioning , I might agree. And I was totally amused by your upside down walk in the end.

i just watched a video by kiteandfriends. spelled just that way--that had a saconney man-lifting system. he only appears to be about a meter up..but it sure looked perilous. ( sorry i am not capitalizing my script here-but i dumped some Valerian tea on my keyboard and have yet to clean some sticky keys.) anywho....i think this will have to be a must have kite if i am going to seriously collect. those intrepid souls that went dangling in the name of their service to their country must have had nerves of steel...not to mention a great head for details once they made it back to the ground safely. not like today where the camera sees all... a great historical kite system...! thanks for the share..:)

It was nice of you to put the kid's name on the kite, Ha! Cody kites are wonderful to look at and satisfying to fly. Your dad made good kites. You take good care of them. I think this might be the one type of kite Jim does not have. I wonder.

I never did learn the boys name so he will have to be Cody. If you look back over Jim's videos he has a least two Codys but like me we have favoured the easy fly soft kites or single spar deltas etc. Sometimes it's worth the effort to assemble these grand box kites. I enjoyed seeing your Treczoks Cody.

Very interesting video, Carl, and the aerial footage came out well. You certainly beat me to it, although I did consider lifting my camera this afternoon and then thought better of it because of the blustery wind. Lovely kites, too.

Thank you Jim. The camera lifting was a very amatuer attempt but a bit of fun. Lots of room for improvement. Hoping we can do a group fly of Codys in the near future.

What Is Islam? Islam is not just another religion. It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus. Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him

The films end shows clearly that you are from downunder, Carl... ;-) I fear with those uneven winds and rather small Cody kites your try of boy lifting would probably stay only a trial. In the mid-nineties I had the opportunity to see an ascent of the manlifting system of Alfons Carsten from Berlin, which was really spectacular - anchored to two bulldozers.

To see an actual demonstration of manlifting Codys would be a wonderful sight. We are grateful to gravity in NZ.

Is the second kite - the one with *CODY* on it - an "extended wing" version?
@kiteflyingdownunder....car6272
@kiteflyingdownunder....car6272 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan. No I don't believe that Cody could be called an extended wing version. Sadly that very kite came to a crashing end in a recent video I made called "Cody Capers". The aging fabric ripped in the wind and the Cody's flying days are over.

Were the original war-kites this exact size?
@kiteflyingdownunder....car6272
@kiteflyingdownunder....car6272 8 ай бұрын
Samuel Cody experimented with a range of "Cody" kite sizes for the First World War. Some may well have been a similar size to mine but he was most famous for his eventual giant "man- lifting " sized kites. Flown in a train of several kites stacked they had the lifting power to hoist a man in a basket. The Cody kites became part of the inspiration for the first Bi- Planes that soon made the kites obsolete for war purposes. Still a wonderful kite design to fly today.
