I was really into Bridgerton & got into the Unofficial Bridgerton Musical by Barlow & Bear who are 2 incredible young female composers. Unfortunately Netflix & Shonda Rhimes & the writer pressed with a major lawsuit against Barlow & Bear which hurt their career. Barlow & Bear literally wrote the musical on TikTok and won the grammy in 2022 for Best New Musical Album which is sung entirely by Abigail Barlow. The lawsuit was nasty & there was a smear campaign by the entire production company against Barlow & Bear. I decided to cancel Netflix because of how they handled this situation. I think Netflix had some points regarding the property of the original characters and actual dialogue being written into the lyrics. Netflix was also doing live events of the Bridgerton experience and Barlow & Bear were doing their live concert musical nearby in Washington DC. Netflix felt that the musical show was hurting their ticket sales for their event and the logo and branding was problematic. Barlow & Bear took the fall but it was really their agents at CAA who should’ve advised B & B. I highly recommend the music of Barlow & Bear & their version of The unofficial Bridgerton Musical would’ve been absolutely amazing. Even if you don’t normally like musicals this incredible art.
