Another beautiful image James. This is a great looking galaxy and I checked to see what it would look like in the StellaMira 90mm refractor in Spain and was disappointed to see it was too small for that scope.

Your 10" would be perfect for it. That said, there's a few galaxy groups around leo. All good candidates fir the 90mm.

Hi James - Excellent final product, as usual! You've whetted my appetite for another target that I've bumped into as well while moseying around in Stellarium. Beautiful Galaxy, a good target for the HD8 and well positioned in the sky now - alas, too many targets, not enough clear skies! Did I just notice that you continue your work flow on clones, thereby saving originals you could return to if you end up at a poor result? I guess from my days coping cassette tapes I'm stuck thinking of generation loss, but that's analog, this is digital, I may have to steal that maneuver, hope you don't mind! Thanks for another great video, Pete

Thank you Pete! Yes.. I use clones like vmware snapshots. It's precisely so I can go back to a certain point and go in a different direction if I don't like the results I'm getting.

hi James, good job. could you make an image of some galaxy on a edgeHD in the palette SHORGB? - I really like everything you do

Thank you so much! I think M33 would be a good candidate for SHORGB. I have a lot of HORGB on M33. Perhaps this year when it's back up I'll grab some Sii.

Fantastic image James. That's an awesome looking galaxy and will be going on the list of targets to have a go at.

That's a lovely galaxy image James nice target to try & remember I always promised myself to image NGC3184 another small spiral galaxy that I imaged way back in 2014 using my 10" Newtonian & modified DSLR but I still haven't managed to yet. Clear skies!!

Great video and nice image, James! I just got a C8 and a 533MC Pro, so I'm hoping to emulate a few of your projects as soon as I can figure out the OAG! Given the unreliable weather, I may miss galaxy season this year, but looking forward to capturing the Sliced Onion next year. Clear skies, Matt

Thanks Matt! Dialing in an OAG the first time can be a pain. I recommend getting it setup during daylight. Looking forward to seeing yours next year :)

Do you think the Pinwheel galaxy woud benefit from some Narrowband data? You mentioned Ha. The moon's starting to be a nuisance next few weeks😢
@DSOImager
@DSOImager 9 ай бұрын
Yea.. plenty of Ha spots on M101. It's a strategy I also use... switching to Ha once the moon is 30% or larger.
@mikehardy8247
@mikehardy8247 9 ай бұрын
Exactly! Next few weeks, moon, doesn't help with only a UV/IR filter. I've been wondering if the Idas GNB FILTER is worth the investment?
@DSOImager
@DSOImager 9 ай бұрын
@@mikehardy8247 i have no experience with these new range of "limited broadband + ha & o3". They look interesting, maybe a good option for those in b7 and worse. My thoughts are that if your skies are decently dark, mixing broadband data with this filter and broadband data from a moonless night might not work great. If your goal is to get just ha with the moon out, and your using osc, i think a regular duel band filter would be better.

I'm in bortle 9, so anything that helps. With the moon out, everyone is fighting LP.
