Astrophotography with the Google Pixel 6 Pro

In this video, I will review the Astrophotography mode in the Google Pixel 6 Pro. The Pixel 6 comes with an amazing 50 MP Octa PD Quad Bayer camera and Google's own Tensor processor. It also comes with a built-in set of tools to enhance and bring out the details in your images. This phone/camera combined with a basic photography tripod and cell phone adapter will allow anyone to take fantastic images of the night sky. I can't get it to work. I go somewhere dark, I get it into astro mode, I put it on a tripod, I take the five minute picture and the end result is just a bright gray sky with a few extra stars.

I will buy that device soon and love taking amateur astrophotos. I think just with that AI capabilities and good ideas and environment I could get beautiful results especially that 'astrophoto landscapes'. I really would like you had gone deeply into the astro-time lapse option it provides this year....I don't know if it allows taking an unlimited time lapse or just a very short one. Anyway thanks for the video. 😉

I have bought the Google pixel 6 (I have always been a Samsung phone man} I chose the pixel 6 for the astrophotography mode as well as my everyday phone. Now I have had this phone for 35 days now, bought a tripod and phone holder, Bluetooth shutter button and portable charger, how many times have I used the astro function, 0 zero zilch, its not been clear skies yet in the UK

Astrophotographers have a general rule that whenever we get new equipment it will be cloudy for at least a month.

Sorry for the amateur question but can you use the Pixel 6 pro for moon shots or is there two much light?

I haven't tried it yet. The main problem that I see is that you'd need to be able to turn the iso and exposure time way down to adjust for brightness. I'm sure there are 3rd party apps just for that but I haven't personally attempted it yet. I'll work on it though and try to get a video up.

I've taken some photos of the moon with my pixel 6. It looks really bright, but craters can be visible when it focuses

Hey there. Just wanted to chime in to say that the phone algorithmically tries to recognize night sky and is filling in dark spots with "fake" stars of various degrees of brightness and colors. So about 60% of the stars you get to see on photos captured with the pixel 6 / 6 pro have nonexistent stars. Which still is a good thing by the way. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. The opposite even. It's able to do all that with the processing power of a phone.

@@StormyP101 I have been able to take photos of my Television and PC monitor when they are off (black screen) and the pixel just "insterted" a full on proper AI generated night sky into the black space of the screen.
