I saw him in the early 90's in Austin at the famous Continental Club. The guy was a fireball...pure energy. By the end of the show his clothing was drenched with sweat and the audience was grinning ear to ear. I wore out 'Monkey Beat'...a must for any respectable collection. I'll never forget you Ronnie. You truly made the world a happier place.

I wish Ronnie could have stuck around a few more decades. That dang pipe smoke. But he did good, he left a legacy of great music and humility and kindness, an example of doing what you love. And boy did Jocko make that track sound amazing.

The guitar player with the cap is a Dutch guy called Tjarko Jeen. He played a lot with Ronnie.

awatson1968 He was the lead guitarist of The Tin Stars,one of the best rockabilly band in Netherlands and over Europe too,we shared the stage with them with my,at that time,band " Howlin' Lou and The Starliters " near Ulm,Germany,for the two days NYE event in December 1995,if I don't get wrong,after that gig he goes to stay and live in Austin,TX,and start playing with the Ronnie Dawson's band,with the great Lisa Pankratz at the drum,saw all of them also in Marion,Indiana,for the 2 days Fairmount Rockabilly Festival/James Dean memorial days,in June 1995 !!! \m/

@@howlinlou67 @awatson1968 Eddie Angel (Los Straitjackets) played on this record too - if i'm not mistaken, that's him on acoustic for this cut. But he also plays some killer electric leads on other numbers...."Home Cookin' in partic. I didn't know about Tjarko! He is indeed great. That record "Just Rockin' and Rollin'" - was rather thin on the liner notes/credits.

Studio is in Hackney, East London and still very much around. It's most famous for being the site of the recording of the White Stripes Elephant LP. All analogue equipment in there, no digital.
