​@bennapier1897 Unfortunately, Montero doesn't have an AAA or Minor League option in his contract. He effectively can't be sent down even if they wanted to. The best the Astros can do with him is to release him and let him enter free agency.

It worries me that our bullpen cant seem to get through, even a night with the smallest amount of pressure without every reliever giving up home runs.. I mean the pitching has been great most of the year, but they are starting to stumble.. Get it together guys. The lineup is almost fully healthy. And hopefully this is a tell tail of what is to come for them. They need to get going before the end of the year, and get up into the top 12 of hitting categories... I fear they will have issues hitting in the post season, and if they dont win the division they wont have home field at all. Great game, but they seem to have lost the sense of urgency they have had the last 3 years.

Dana Brown may not be interested in fixing the pitching with the club, or this man is playing a great hand of poker, but this club is hurting in the pitching department and need a massive boost or a change to occur in that position. The hitting is almost consistent with the hit-and-miss they've been doing all season so far and will continue. However, what took the Astros to the top of the MLB last season was the pitching staff, and there is no getting past that. The sooner they get it fixed, the better the club will be.

Yes, because he isn't a pitcher. He's a catcher. A backup catcher. The rays were down 10 and their bullpen is taxed so they effectively forfeit and put in a non pitcher to end the game and not waste any more real relievers. They can't just quit and have to finish the game so that's the strategy. Its not uncommon.

Great throw to home from Bregman and good to see some offense. Wish Dusty would have taken out Brown after the 6th, I think 6 innings of no run ball would have been a good confidence boost for him, but Dusty is determined to let every starting pitcher go longer than they should this season.

The two takeaways from this game: 1) Hats off to the Astros for being up enough for a position player pitching scenario. (Why they did it in the 7th and brought a traditional pitcher for the 8th, I don't know) 2) The Astros did what every team should do in a PPP situation- swing early. Don't work the count or take hittable pitches. You already won the game- just got up there and hack.
