Since the Python MK2 has come out I’ve engineered it, swapped out the 2 pulse lasers for 2 frag cannons, 2D from memory (gimballed,) with overcharged, screening shell, and have 3 overcharged auto loader multicannons, 1 high cap corrosive multicannon. I’ve spent about 30 hours grinding wing missions, accumulating about 2 Billion credits in combat bonds and mission rewards. In this time I am hard pressed to find a more versatile ship in a has rez zone, a well placed re-arming location means re-arming takes me like 2-3minutes to fly there, dock, re arm, re fuel, forget repairs, never heard of her! And get back, but I digress, the ship is extremely robust, very manoeuvrable, and I find the thrusters (up, down, left, right,) to be very responsive and when you get the hang of it, you can keep up rotation with an imperial eagle etc, and I’m an FA On Pilot, after a near on 12 month hiatus from the game, the ship is very communicative and easy to fly. Boosting for moving, similar to the Krait, makes a world of difference, but I find myself spending 95% of my time at 50% throttle, 1 pip in engines, 1.5 pips sys, and 3.5 weps, taken on 3 elite anacondas (including 2 with SLF, which I let just hammer me, because they did like no damage,) at the same time and didn’t drop below 50% shields, Bi-Weaves mind you. I came from a fully engineered Krait MK2, and I had distribution issues with that, until I went to kinetic/ammo based weapons, and it had less damage output and versatility, I also found the krait had to re-arm more frequently due to lack of damage to strip shields and push past SCB regeneration, which lead to the enemy just becoming a bullet sink hole, the increase damage output of the Python MK2 over the Krait means that I can strip the shield of an Elite Anaconda, through SCBs prior to distro discharging entirely, allowing me a momentary change of vector, and recharge of distro before I absolutely destroy their hull in a matter of seconds. I feel like this is overlooked purely for the size of the distro, and in a properly built ship, you shouldn’t run out of a distro unless it’s against bigger targets, and those bigger targets tend to have high end SCBS which you need to strip past their regeneration and the rest of the shield to a, conserve ammo and b, kill them quicker, this the Python has an advantage over the krait purely because of that. I’m excited to get the Pacifiers unlocked to try 4 pacifiers, 1 overcharged multi cannon auto loader and 1 high cap corrosive multicannon for my PvE Python MK2, which I’ve affectionally named “Baby Corvette,” due to how nimble it is with its level of firepower. I can tell you now, I won’t touch the Krait MK2 again for anything other than AX interceptor work (1v1,) or when I decide to try spires and titan stuff out, which I haven’t gotten to yet. I feel the distro size would be more problematic with 1v1 AX as opposed to Haz Res sites, and I’d swap AX 1v1 to C rating due to distro and lack of internal module for hull reinforcements, and I’d probably put AX CZ as B rating and chuck PvE into A rating as S tier is really reserved for, as you said, those bigger ships. I've built your Python mkII titan bomber build but have yet to test it. I'm presently doing the material grind to replace the mats spent on your Python mkII and Krait mkII builds. When I'm finally done replenishing my stocks I'll be testing them both. The work you do makes life easier for others and for that I thank you.

I would drop the PMk2 AXCZ down to a B-grade. Take into consideration both port CZs and non-port CZ, the latter of which you have to rely on limpets and synths to sustain between engagement and kite interceptors.

That’s a good point actually. By and large, when I think AXCZ nowadays, I think about the surface and spaceport versions. But the “space” versions are a thing too! Those behave closer to the 1vs1 version of AX Combat so, if anything, would fit definitely into the same B-grade… maybe next time around I will succeed at capturing this nuance too!

Im happy as hell with mine and im not fully done engineering it. Running light shields and engineered hull modules has made mine reasonably tough. The utility slots combined with the hard point convergence make me smile. Then again I will admit, I never liked the kraits for the inverted cockpit alone.

Inverted cockpit? It makes much more sense like the way it is, the canopy is more protected. It looks perfectly fine to me, I still don’t understand why people say that it’s inverted, it’s an alternative design which makes it iconic and stand out.

is def not s tier for pvp , a tier is perfect imo :p, very big differences between it and fdl, in 1v1s its really good if not better since pacis + very heavy ram on fdls are both v good but pacis have to keep very close range compared to pas like srb rails since they're still frags ofc, but with weaker boost compared to fdl its harder to keep ~1km range on fdl + is also harder to hit all paci shots on low front/back profile ship because spread ofc, pacis are also easier to dodge because of that as well and the pmk2 is much wider and with weaker boost is worse for evasion too so is much better for 1v1s than wingfights, like chally/python, but much closer to fdl for wingfights since flight model compared to chally/python much better

I am... growing to respect the Pythonmk2 at least as a ship option. I don't like the early release for ARX shenanigans, but i'll begrudgingly admit this isn't the worst way they could try to increase profits... for now. At least it's not the Cobra mk4. CMDRs who own it don't even fly it and I've seen more AI pirates using it than actual players.

i brought it into a spire site and it just felt so much worse than the krait with 4mpcs because the distro just cant charge them even twice before running out of juice, id stick with the krait at spires personally, i like to murder scouts and not have to wait ages for distro juice lol

You using a WF distro? Not CE? This build uses a WF distro… but yeah, MPCs are fantastic vs scouts. But MPCs have limited ammo and are vulnerable to AGFs… doesn’t matter that much for spires, but in TitanSpace the “time cost of rearm” is pretty high.

For a ganking build, it's lethal with 2 shield buster torps and 4 pacifier frags with double shot. It's scary how fast it can delete a corvette or cutter.

@paradoxx_4221 oh I know, I used to use them to sneak up and "nutcracker" peoples shields after a friend would cloud the radar with packhounds so they couldn't see them coming and then double shot pacifiers did the rest. Arming distance and speed are their only real downfall along with low ammo and not being able to synth, unless someone is prepped with ecm.

Oh, that's great. I have a lot of accumulated arx but I still haven't bought it. I don't understand the main question : what will happen with the Thargoid War in August ? Again according to the logic of introducing ships for arxs (even if pre-purchase) the next ship should be even better than PythonMK2 (heavy fighter T8), it should cost in arxs - more expensive, and its purchase for regular credits should be with a difference of not 4 months but half a year. So it will wait :)

For me it’s a sheep in wolfs clothing, it looks mean but it’s really quite weak. I wouldn’t use it for PVP or general combat in PVE.
