Fun fact about the GGs: They were the first HBCU dance line to integrate. They had one white girl to dance with them in the 80s and they also had several white girls to dance with the Golden girls in the 2000s decade and two of the white girls were from Russia.

Tye was captain 2011 and went on to be tail 2012. Tischonia was captain 2013, and that was really the start of the new GG era because Katt, Liv, Memphis, Tricia, and Hali were her babies.

I don't wanna step on anybody toes, but in my opinion it gives that the golden girls didn't really have any dependable captains that was really ready to push their pens until it got to Zee. Cause looking at the the 2015 squad you got girls like Katt, Zee, Kamesha, Caleeda that buck with so much power and give off that ''I want all the smoke'' energy. Like they should have been running the SWAC since 2015 with that type of energy on that team. It's like they should have been looking like 2018-2023 in 2015 if you get what I'm saying. They just needed a captain that would really take it there.

I agree they should have been up there from the start because they are supposedly the first to dance in the stands they should’ve had a bigger name for themselves like in 2014 and 2015 and even earlier years, because in that time we had legendary captains like Kayla from dolls, Asia from stingettes and dom from Jettes. They were pushing the boundaries the cohesiveness and leadership.

I respect your opinion! It's just It might seem like that from the vantage point of now, but looking back in 2014/2015 IMO they were on course of progression, see when you have had off or rebuilding years sometimes it can take a lot depending on the structure. True enough, GGs had some HEAVY HEAVY hitters, but again starting in those 12', 13'-14/15' years were really the start of really I'll say MODERN GGs we see now. Also keep in mind, those years the Golden Girls started to get filmed more too (as did a lot of others too). They been doing great work but the ppl weren't exactly giving them props they deserve back then like the GGs get now. Heck Alcorn's band program itself was progressing each of those years as well

I loved this! You see the progression from each year, I always said 12' was the year that helped planted the seed, Dava really provided STRUCTURE (an amazing capt she was/is!) and by the time Alison became capt in 14 and 15, Ali really put it altogether and each capt has been STRONG every year since, SO MANY heavy hitters year after year. I went back years ago and it's been also interesting to see how deep the GG really is! I said this in another comment but I always felt those 12',13',14' years were INSTRUMENTAL in crafting the pieces of the modern day GGs we have now, every year now CONSISTENT and STRONG. They cleaned up a lot over those 2010s years and implemented their brand of creativity, so I really always admired the GGs growth

I think for Jak, I don't think nobody doubted her, I think everybody was just looking & waiting for Crystianna because we just knew she was going to be Captain that year, not knowing she was pregnant. Also alot of us are DD4L fans and it seems like none of them actually becomes Captain across all HBCUs. I can say Jak is a beast tho. She can dance her ass off.
