One thing that is annoying me on my AX11000 and that i saw too on the AXE11000 is that Asus no longer write "Gaming Port" ont the router. Because this is also not clear in the manual. In your video on AX86u that also has a 2.5gb lan port, the game port is LAN1. But on the 11000 models it "seems" that it is "2.5gb LAN5".

I know it would be more hassle, but I don't think comparing a laptop and a desktop on different networks as a truly fair thing to do. Things as simple as antenna designs on different machines, to potentially different firmware/chip/antenna designs as well as number (1x1 vs 2x2) etc can cause too many different factors to compare between the two (my parents have 2 different brand laptops and 1 can get a strong signal almost anywhere and the other one only in a few places in the house, both on 802.11n). Especially when talking about bleeding edge tech, where the 6e device might have a weak firmware, vs the older device having a more optimized design. The numbers seemed to come out about where I would expect, but it wasn't a great way of comparing those things.

Why routers reviews never cover the high demanding scenarios, maybe starting with in-home gamestreaming with steamlink or moonlight, these are fairly popular apps, and i don't necessarily need to be wanting to experiment with wifi 6e (,which i'm btw lol) to want to see more types of tests.

The downside of these routers is when Lan Cable is only 1 Gbps and wifi could not get higher than that ( which actually the connection link is way higher than 1Gbps) I can get over 1.7Gbps from my Main router over Wireless connection but when I connect with Lan to another access point my Wireless bottleneck is over Lan connection.

Yes that could be a good case scenario, in crowd places you can easily use multiple 6 GHz APs without interfering with each other. Generally in crowd placed instead of using one AP with high range (big cell) they use multiple APs with shorter range (smaller cells). Thanks.

Thanks, unfortunately I haven't had the chance to test either of the routers you mentioned, however, the axe16000 is pretty much the same as the ax11000 except that it has an extra 5ghz radio! Your videos are always great and i enjoy them very much. Question 1: Why is it that your 2.4 GHz channel is 8 instead of 1, 6 or 11? You said that you are using all default value and 8 is a bad neighbour channel. Question 2: Is it true that ALL routers from low to high end have similar wifi range like what you shown in your video? Or is it just AXE11000 and AX86U? I ask because i wish to know whether a low end router is enough or not if i don't need all those super duper feature of high end router. Thanks.
@Behfor3 жыл бұрын
Good questions! 1- The router has automatically selected that channel and not me, and it does that by scanning the area to see what channel has the best quality at that very moment and will select that. Now, the 2.4 GHz band is already really bad and it's almost impossible to find a channel with no interference, for example just imagine if your neighbors are already using channels 1,6 & 11 and if the router selects any of those channels it's not gonna be any good! So that's why it has to go with the channel which has less noise/interference and in my case happened to be 8. PS. my neighbors are pretty much using every single channels here so the situation is even more complicated that that here 😉 2- This could be a subject of a future video but generally speaking range depends on antenna, power and wifi technology ( router & clients) and in this example in this video just happened to be the same for those 2 routers. An Old router , even if it uses the same antenna&power as a newer router, there is a good chance that it's range might not be as good because it uses old wifi technology. But like I said it's more complicated and I might make video on this subject. Thanks.
@lenkiatleong3 жыл бұрын
@@Behfor , Thanks for your reply Behfor. 1) I reckon you have to start a neighbourhood WiFi channel council to assign specific channel to every unit/house. LOL 2) I am looking forward to watch your new video to explain what exactly affect WiFi range. I'm confused because ALL routers are limited by 20, 23 and 30 dBm transmission power. Something must be defying physics here and i'm still looking for answers.

Great video, I am still confused as to which one I should buy, this one seems too expensive, was thinking of buying Ruter ASUS GS-AX5400, or is the ASUS RT-AX86U better? Or is there an budget version Wifi 6 Router which you would recommend? Preferably with MU-MIMO support as I see people recommend it a lot
@pr0jectSkyneT2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what your looking for. Between the two, the AX86U is the better router. It has 2.5Gps multiport which means it can support internet speeds beyond 1Gbps when your ISP eventually offers it or you can use it as LAN. It has a 4x4 radio (vs 2x2) on the 2.4Ghz band which gives it a higher theoretical top speed and longer range. It also has Merlin support which means you will have the option to upgrade to a 3rd party firmware (the AX5400 currently doesn't but well may in the future). Both routers support MU-MIMO. The GS-AX5400 will be cheaper though. If the price difference is less than $50, I say get the AX86U. I got the GS-AX5400 only because I found one for $160 (AX86U at $250 are sold out). Another one to consider is the new GT-AX6000 which has a better 2.0Ghz quad-core processor (vs 1.8Ghz on the AX86U) and another additional 2.5Ghz port (for LAN and WAN).

Hi, I'm in the US and as far as I know the US laws regarding the 6GHz band are different from the Europe laws (if UK is still considered Europe btw), so you gotta make sure your phone and router are both following the WiFi regulations in the UK. If you have purchased both from UK then they are probably fine.
