I just wanna say thanks for all your videos! Yesterday my Ps5 controller started to stick drift and I ended up switching out the potentiometer from a working donor board. I used all the tips and tricks i learned from your channel and the controller is now fixed. I have tried to do that in the past and messed up badly. Thanks to your channel, I was able to get back to gaming. I also saved the world from complaints by getting rid of the messy solder. It is now better than factory!

We used to use Closed cycle IPA UltraSonic cleaning baths with a refrigerated top condensing fume capture at a Military PCB production factory back in the mid 1980's. we could clean boards upto 50cm wide. They are nice bits of kit, but are expensive, so not suitable for a small business.

At least Alex is getting alot of business from failed Asus laptops and with any luck he will have enough experience with them to find a surefire way to fix many of them. I've experienced the same/similar on digital commercial tape drives in the 80s in manufacturing in Monrovia, CA. Usually the output power devices will blow and replacement of the output transistors of the preamp will resolve the issue. In a few cases, uncommon, the pre-stage drivers of this preamp to these output transistors on this same board will also blow. The tape drives are soaked for 2 weeks, drives will usually fail well within this soak environmental test. Most common are the power transistors of the power amp, a separate circuit board with a huge heatsink. The TO3 transistors will blow probably because of an imbalance. Sometimes this will damage the output of the preamp board. Virtually all failures are power related for power supplies, controls, sensors and tape drives. Seldom does a logic (chip) fail (probably less than 1% of all failures) because back in the day things were comparatively conservative. Today chips and near components do fail, consumer goods, because they are basically overdriven or overclocked. It was a time when virtually any schematic, pictorial diagram or perhaps theory of operation could be had for any product. The days when Heathkit and others like it were still around.

I just noticed that after 12:50 the audio and video are way off. You are talking about the PDF of the documentation of that chip you replaced while you were showing that the laptop was working. And your intro played while you were still talking about it. Also the timeline on YT ended but still kept going so for the last like 20 seconds there is just a black screen. I don't think as it's my YT bugging out as it persisted after a page refresh. It isn't video-breaking but could you please fix this? Other than that I really like what you do and I still find it amazing how quickly you can fix devices with your knowledge!

why does it feel like Asus is slipping in the laptop department. I had a friend who brought me his Asus ROG Zephyrus S15 GX502GV and it was running so hot, temps are at 100°C+ on load. All pads have melted and on one side of the VRM, the pads are not even making contact. A good set of high end pads and TIM lowered that by 20°C.

It always makes me wonder, how are you sure that there isn't a solder bridge under a chip when you squeeze it out at last heating? Is the surface tension enough to make them break apart under the chip? If the blobs flow out then there must be more than enough under to cause bridging. I'm always scared of making a short in this way, but I'm curious of your methods and pardon my ignorance if it was already answered in other videos :) I love seeing your skills and how happy you are when stuff is fixed!

Hi! This is from Google: "Zero ohm resistors are the perfect remedy to 'magically' route a single layer board.
