I've experienced the same/similar on digital commercial tape drives in the 80s in manufacturing in Monrovia, CA. Usually the output power devices will blow and replacement of the output transistors of the preamp will resolve the issue. In a few cases, uncommon, the pre-stage drivers of this preamp to these output transistors on this same board will also blow. The tape drives are soaked for 2 weeks, drives will usually fail well within this soak environmental test. Most common are the power transistors of the power amp, a separate circuit board with a huge heatsink. The TO3 transistors will blow probably because of an imbalance. Sometimes this will damage the output of the preamp board. Virtually all failures are power related for power supplies, controls, sensors and tape drives. Seldom does a logic (chip) fail (probably less than 1% of all failures) because back in the day things were comparatively conservative. Today chips and near components do fail, consumer goods, because they are basically overdriven or overclocked. It was a time when virtually any schematic, pictorial diagram or perhaps theory of operation could be had for any product. The days when Heathkit and others like it were still around.
@dreamcat04 Жыл бұрын
I just noticed that after 12:50 the audio and video are way off. You are talking about the PDF of the documentation of that chip you replaced while you were showing that the laptop was working. And your intro played while you were still talking about it. Also the timeline on YT ended but still kept going so for the last like 20 seconds there is just a black screen. I don't think as it's my YT bugging out as it persisted after a page refresh. It isn't video-breaking but could you please fix this? well that's because there is still some flux residue left behind and it becomes sticky. if you keep on cleaning 2-3 times the spot there will be no fibers left. but i understand there is not a problem if just a little flux is left over, even from the factory sometimes it has on laptop motherboards (near solder jumpers etc)

Hi! This is from Google: "Zero ohm resistors are the perfect remedy to 'magically' route a single layer board. Rather than making holes and turning the PCB into a double-layer structure, you can route a trace between the pads of a zero ohm resistor. These resistors are then assembled along with other components during the manufacturing process."

How is an ultrasonic machine meant to ignite IPA? It only uses vibration and sound waves to cause cavitation. The only risk is the formation of vapour but used in a well ventilated area it's fine.
@NorthridgeFix Жыл бұрын
Ultrasonic machines has heaters that can be set to specific temperatures. Not only vibrations. Inhaling fumes is a health hazard in addition to IPA being flammable. Cleaning solution exist that does a similar or better job without the risks.
@rickydenton1982 Жыл бұрын
@NorthridgeFix but it's electrically isolated from the liquid to prevent short circuit so there's no risk of a spark and doesn't get close to the temperature required for IPA to auto-ignite, which is 399⁰C.
