Hi, Glad to have been of help to you. If the problem comes back, it means your board is under-powered and you need to upgrade the PCU to a higher wattage. You can also find more videos about ASUS fixings/upgrades etc on my video list. Thanks for watching. Regards, Jose.

I bought a second hand P8Z77-PRO on eBay and had the same problem using a i7-3770 processor. I found out that using a Corsair VX550W PSU was the way to solve the problem. I did some measurements and noticed that with varous PSU's the voltage on ATX pin 16 (PS_ON#) was around 4.7V when off, and with the good working Corsair VX550W the voltage was around 3.7V. I soldered a 100KOhm resistor between pin 16 and ground (pin 15) and the problem was solved with the other PSU's as well!

Mmm i think you are on to something here. My mobo is also dead and it reads 4.83v on that line, I have to see if I can find a resistor for that thing and see if it boots

Hi, This only happens if you do updates of sound cards graphic cards etc after the first boot. To prevent this from happening with ASUS P8Z77 M PRO, remove the Bios battery before removing any components from the motherboard and replacing the upgrades... remember to use anti-static gloves and bracelet. Regards Jose Nunes P.S. sorry for the late update

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH the p8z77-m when i run games the board cant cope with the power and goes dead, I have a AX750 corsair PCU and one HD7850 so i guess it should be enougth. What u think?
@TRUCKERJOES
@TRUCKERJOES 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Andre, if the motherboard turns off while you're playing the games, check for loose connections and make sure the system is not overheating, make sure the cooling system is not obstructed by dust. If everything checks out ok, then your problem is with the PSU itself here you can see when I first built mine I used my 750w PSU, it burned out in a few days kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3jZf4psr990oac so I upgraded to XFX PRO1250w and since then the problem is a thing of the past and I'm running the EVGA GTX660 actually I need to get the videos up of these upgrades. Regards, Jose.

Thanks fot the answer, Well , this PSU AX750 is really supposed to cope with it, I have maxed out the power on the bios for extreme and maxed all powers options up, keeped the cpu normal default clock and it just run some game ok now, i guess it could have helped, but im afraid of it dying again.

So I have a problem with booting, but it's not quite the same. It can start to the Asus screen, but after that it just flickers gray and restarts over and over. I read a little about it on forums and they're suggesting I should try to use single ram sticks in every DIMM, same results. I changed harddrive still same results. I removed the GPU and went on the boards internal gpu, still same results. Should I change CMOS or try updating bios? What do you think? Also something to add, I've been able to boot it normally before this, it just stopped working one day.

Xorrak Hi, how many beeps do you get when pressing the power button?
@Xorrak
@Xorrak 9 жыл бұрын
***** Hey, thanks for responding. I started pc now and I don't hear any beep. It just keep restarting over and over to the Asus screen with a slight gray flicker after Asus screen happens. I have the case open and all I can see is a red led that flashes each time it restarts "dram" I have pressed that memok button and it says the memory are okay. Going into bios is not a problem at all. Just getting to windows.
@TRUCKERJOES
@TRUCKERJOES 9 жыл бұрын
Xorrak Hi, This is most likely an external problem. Bear in mind, the beeps you're talking about, should be quite faded, and they come from your board, and not from your speakers. The best course of action is to unplug every USB device except your keyboard and the mouse,. Next, turn off the machine, unplug it from the main power source, and press the power button a couple of times for a few seconds, so the system gets into static discharge. Then, plug in the power cord, and power up your machine. Once you get to the windows, then plug in your external devices, one by one, making sure it downloads and updates to the latest drivers. Regards, Jose.

Hi again. I tried as you instructed. I only had mouse and keyboard for USB but I tried to pull out both and one by one, while turning of the computer, pulling out cable and then hit power button on the computer a couple seconds but still same results. I put my ear so close that it almost got into the fan, still couldn't hear any beeping sound, just fans.

Hi, I really need your help.. I have ASUS P8Z77-M.. same problem and I have follow your guide with the jumper and its power up twice but the first one, its just running but nothing shown on my monitor, just red light on the memOK. I turn it off and try remove the graphic card and one of the ram memory card then powered it up again but still its not booting. I put everything in again and try to power up again but failed.. even did the same thing again on the jumper. I did changes the cr2032 battery but still I cant get it to power it up.. I should have read it earlier about the red light memOK. (push that button about few second till it flashing). I really need your help if you have any other idea how to make it run again.. by the way.. the ram memory are in good condition, its just the mobo itself. Thanks in advance.

+kunee51 Hi, make sure you use gloves when changing the battery and do not touch on any parts with your bare hands after you put the system under load or the battery simply drains off. So, what you should do now is unplug the machine from the main power supply completely, press the power button for a few seconds, while looking at the machine, you will notice any static charge will cause your CPU fan to turn slightly. If nothing happens, it means all energy has been drained from the system. Now, using latex gloves, replace the CMOS battery with a new one. Again, do not attempt to replace the battery with your bare hands, or the battery will simply go dead, when it comes into contact with your fingers and the board. Regards, Jose.

+kunee51 Regarding the machine starting and you getting nothing on the monitor, you need to make sure that the system is booting from the right hard drive. How many hard drives do you have installed on the system? And if so, is there an operations system already installed? Regards, Jose.

I fail to see how clearing the CMOS will fix a dead boot issue. It should at least try to physically start up. Jumping the CMOS is only good for clearing the BIOS settings. Poor BIOS settings will not prevent from physically starting to boot (as shown in your video)
