Ohhh. Thanks for your input! Will probably put a screen protector on the tablet then. Might you happen to know the exact dimensions of the actual screen from corner to corner? Thinking about using the tablet as a carputer possibly...but need it to fit a 7-8" opening.

Nice phone. I imagine if such a phone that can be used also as a tablet with a keyboard can run Windows 10 and Microsoft Office (in future possibly), it would be very convenient

Got a chance to play with the older Padfone models. Something cool people don't mention is there's a battery mode that changes the tablet to charge the phone (if batt low enough) and still use the tablet battery only while in tablet mode. Really cool if you want to watch a movie on a plane, then come off with a fully charged phone.

I had a padfone a few short years ago, and loved the utility/idea behind it. I was able to use as phone, and, as a large screen display for navigation in my car with 4G service. Downside- while it worked well, the battery swelled up and failed after about 14 months, and while the battery on my model had a removable battery, I could not get a replacement battery, from asus, or anywhere. I do like the idea though, and if they were more readily available on the market, I would consider again.

For what it is , I think it represents pretty good value . 2 devices for the price of 1 on 1 data plan. Like the bluetooth keyboard. I thought the previous version represented higher quality being aimed at professionals. I'm leaning more towards a ruggedized device like the S5 Active I can slip in my cycling jersey when I go bike riding.

I feel like the market this phone is targeted at may just go with a Phablet styled phone instead. That way they aren't lugging around that 9" dock wherever they go which seems like you'd practically need to take it in a bag. In all honesty the phone looks pretty cool although the design looks a bit flat, the tablet on the other hand has ridiculously large bezels and that adds a lot of unnecessary bulk to it.

Asus puts those circles around the 1 and 6 keys on transformer docks and their laptops too. Why? Best guess is visual aid to locate your fingers, I haven't found they do anything special.

Go find a deal on a Surface Pro 2 on eBay. It's capable of running demanding legacy desktop programs like CAD and it will also replace all your needs for paper (with OneNote), be it your notebook, diary, or plain paper for assignments.

Ferman Siasat More portable yes, but a full sized computer will be more capable of running 3D applications than a low powered tablet. The Intel Core i5 on the Surface is a Low powered one, meaning you can't play games or use 3D apps efficiently. If not a macbook pro, look for a full sized laptop, with a full sized mobile processor.

If only the phone and tablet had a more sleek and polished design, this concept would be a winner. But it's way too chunky and unattractive. Let's face it, looks account for so much with cell phones these days. My first cell phone was the size of a 30 in tv.

Here in 2022, we still don't see any new iteration of this astonishing product. It's crazy to see just how ahead of the time ASUS used to be. I definitely hope that any lapdock makers can take this idea and turn it as a universal product. Smartphones of today are so powerful that it can easily be used as a portable pocket computer.

It would've been a great idea to have a phone like now with desktop mode. To have this idea + laptop system. So a phone can dock into a tablet, Turn into tablet mode. Then when you attach a keyboard like attachment with fans, It'll go into laptop mode aka desktop mode-like. And if you had a desktop rig system with a full blow GPU. The laptop would dock into that and turn into a windows OS system to play full blown computer-like experiance. 4 in 1. Would be epic. To have a handheld Android-Windows PC in 1.

They have a non-contract version (still AT&T) which is the Mini version that attach to the 7" tablet (Gophones, AT&T version of a prepaid phone service). same price as this one with contract.

I had a Asus Transformer Prime TF201 and loved it, until the combination of Tegra 3 and Jelly Bean blew my enthusiasm away. (ICS was kinda smooth) Asus can produce lovely, aesthetically pleasing devices like TF201 but this one is just ugly. Ok, function is No.1 priority, but i'd rather like to search for alternatives after seeing those bezels.

I owned Padfone 2 for about a year and it was great, taking phone to work and wherever I was going, keeping tablet dock in a nightstand for evening use, that way it worked perfectly for me. And the phone display was IGZIO tech, it was good.

Asus released the first PadFone in 2012, I believe the concept is theirs. It was followed by the PadFone Infinity and the PadFone X is the third generation product.

Why would they make this product, it isnt incredible, its awful... I have had the padfone 2 and infinity and they are much better compared to this. Obviously they dont have the original keyboard dock, but hey, just buy any other bluetooth cover and you are set. Asus has really gone in the wrong direction on this one. Make an improved padfone 1, with latest hardware, aluminum material and a keyboard dock with backlit keys. Stuff in windows 8 in the dock as with the transformer trio and you have the first all in one device.
