Very nice detailed video! The Realtek 887 is quite basic, how is the sound quality like? I don't have a very expensive audio set up, just a soundbar with subwoofer (PC hooked up to TV via HDMI). My current motherboard (from a decade ago!) has Realtek 1150, not sure if i'll notice any difference?

I like the sound from it, its not fantastic but for me it works well. I don't think you would notice much difference from what you have now though.

​@@zazabean23 I was looking hard for a block diagram and had no luck as well. I did however figure out where all the usb ports go. On the rear panel USB ports 1, 9, 10 listed in the manual. So the top half of the I/0 panel above the display ports. (Gen 3.2 (top baby blue port), Gen 3.2 type C, 3.2 gen1 x2 (blue) all are directly to the CPU. I used HWiNFO64 to see which ones go directly to the cpu. Any port that goes through 'Internal PCIe GPP Bridge' is to the cpu. Anything listed under 'PCIe GPP Bridge' is through the chipset.

Most times it will work out of box but if your MB is one of the very first then you may need to update the BIOS.

Yes, it'll work for both. You could use a 40 Series GPU as well.

How do you enable pcie 4.0 on this mobo for rx series gpus? My current bus setting is running as PCI Express 3.0 x4. I have done the bios update and dont see such option on the menu.

The first GPU slot is PCIe 4.0 there is nothing you need to do to enable it, just needs a PCIe Graphics Card that supports PCIe 4.0 on it. Your BIOS default settings would have the settings already enabled. If you want to check you can get HWInfo and see what it is reporting.

When I checked onboard device configuration, there were only four settings for all pci slots. Auto, Gen 1, gen 2 and Gen3. GPU was installed on PCIEX16_1 slot but out of curiosity I swapped to PCIEX16_2 just in case.. and nope it is still running on Bus x4 3.0 And yes my mobo is Asus Prime B550 Plus.

@@Roland_Deschain I'm afraid this is a bit more then my current understanding, as I understand it the PCIe 4.0 just works as long as the GPU also has PCIe 4.0 beyond that at the moment I'm not sure. I'll do some checking and once I have a better understanding I'll do a follow up on it. Sorry I'm not able to help now.

@@Roland_Deschain Yes, sorry didn't think about that, the Ryzen 5 2600 only supports PCIe 3.0 it doesn't support the PCIe 4.0 standard.

i have a quick question all though its probably a stupid one. i got a pre built computer with this motherboard that came with an ssd in the 64gb/s m.2 support pcie 4.0 x4 & sata mode slot as its boot drive is it safe to simply power down the machine and insert a extra ssd into the 32gb/s m.2 support pcie 3.0 x4 & sata mode or is there some extra steps that should be done first?

So if I understand it correctly you want to add a 2nd M.2 Drive to the PCIe slot, if so then yes power down your system and insert it and it'll work fine. If it doesn't show up in File Explorer after doing so, go into PC Management and activate and initialize the drive.

@@CelticX7 Unless you also want to upgrade the speed of your Ram I'd stay with 2 more sticks of ram the same as the two you have. Otherwise you could go with 2 x 16GB Ram Sticks for 32GB Ram and then you could also update to 64GB Ram later if you wanted to. Brands that I like are the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Ram, G Skill Ripjaws V Series or G Skill Trident Z RGB, those same brands also have non RGB as well. I like these one's the best for me. Speed wise 3600 is a nice choice but check to see your Motherboard is compatible with whatever you chose, those are fairly consistently compatible though. Hope that helps.

I am just still new to the modifying a gaming pc and am very hesitant to do anything in fear of damaging something there is currently 2 corsair sticks that collectively hit 16 GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) with a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X cpu rtx geforce gigabyte 3070 gpu. I wasn't sure if the prime b550-plus motherboard needed me to match the current rams 3000Mhz if I was adding or replacing sticks of ram.

@@CelticX7 It's always best to match the Ram sets in a system to avoid compatibility issue's. I've never heard of any damage to a system with just replacing the Ram, only exception might be if it was some proprietary thing but that's unlikely.

A good choice would be a Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard. Most modern recent motherboards will work with the 2080TI but check the Motherboard that its a AM4 Motherboard. Also having one with ARGB on it is a nice feature as well as USB Type-C connector.

Yes you can, however if you do encounter any issues then you would just need to update the BIOS. Most current MBs now have out of box support though.

This MB supports the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with BIOS version 1401. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.

@@jaymarts7944 It will often indicate it on the MB Box, MB itself sometimes or somewhere else but once your system is up and running you can find it by: Typing CMD in the search box, select Command Prompt or CMD. The Command Prompt window appears, then type wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion and then press Enter. The BIOS version will show up.

It should but there is always that possibility. Some now have written on the box Ryzen 5000 ready those should not need an update. However due to some recent fixes with AMD they have suggested to fix stuttering in some games to update the BIOS later on if you experience this.

If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU. To verify all your parts you can go to PCPartPicker website and it will tell you any compatibility issues you might encounter.
