Hi Mike. That’s a very impressive win and also shows that you don’t need crazy high frame rates to be competitive. Do you play with a controller on PC? I recently built a 3060 Ti machine with an 11600K but I’m totally useless with keyboard/mouse and just get completely obliterated playing controller with any of the FPS games. I’m not blaming the hardware, I’m just not very good :) Reading your description, I find that interesting about stretching of the aspect ratio when in 1200. BTW, I’m being sent what looks like a very interesting UVC capture interface for review on my main channel for use with OBS etc. It can record up to 120FPS at 1080 and also 60FPS at 1440, while passing through up to 240 for 1080 and up to 140 at 1440. Apparently it also downscales internally while passing through 4K (not sure what frame rate) and also passes through HDR. I also chop and change between a Ninja V like you do and various Blackmagic devices but, as you know, you can’t do anything with these devices unless they are standard SMPTE NTSC or PAL frame rates and resolutions, although, the BM stuff I’ve used can’t do 120 even at 1080. If this interface is useful for PS5 stuff etc, I’ll let you know. If I can ever get past killing more than two players in WZ or the other CoDs, I’ll give you a shout :) Although, I’m actually not bad on Apex and CoD on the iPad with a controller, so I’m definitely blaming network latency for my poor performance on the consoles and computers :) Cheers, Dave.

Thanks, Dave. Yeah I'm not one of those of people who need framerate. As long as it's not GoldenEye 64 split-screen bad, I'm fine. Most of the newer FPS titles I'm using a controller. Modern FPS just have too many controls (pinging, inventory, healing) I just don't like using kb/mouse. Too much dexterity required from my left hand. Plus when I'm playing with a controller I can lay down on the couch or bed. However in Apex a controller is a definite handicap. It's so much easier to headshot and cancel the muzzle climb patterns on all the guns with a mouse. As for WZ2 I've been shocked my ping is always under 50. I have crossplay enabled(despite the risk of PC cheaters getting into the lobbies). I can see in a lot of my gunfights the enemies are shooting next to me instead of at me. It might be lag on their end, but I didn't start winning until I turned the aim down sight behavior to Dynamic in the options. The default setting for ADS makes your aim very slow. So I think this is why most enemies are shooting behind me. I don't think they can steer fast enough. Please keep me in loop on any of your video capture testing/experiments. I appreciate the knowledge and insight.

Hi Mike. Thanks for that info about the WZ settings and the stuff about Apex, I’ll have to try out some settings changes in WZ. However, while I’m not a particularly good player and without trying to blame my equipment, I do have latency issues as most of my online play is via a 5G cellular connection. So I will have issues anyway, even with better game settings. However, my mobile gameplay stuff isn’t that bad, which may be due to my network connections being more favourable for that type of stuff. Although I’ve got a PS5, Series X and a 3060 Ti, I’m not a serious gamer or anything like that and I do a lot with Apple and Samsung devices with mobile gaming on external monitors with controllers. I’m just someone who plays for fun and loves the tech and have always had some kind of console. I’m 55 and my first console was back around 1977, by Binatone. Basically, I’m just a big kid as far as the game thing is concerned :) My background is music/audio and video production, so my interest in game stuff is quite geeky as far as the tech is concerned. I actually make a lot of KZbin videos but they are for my main channel and camera/microphone thing that I do. So I don’t get to do as much game tech stuff as I’d like as I have to concentrate on the videos that make me some money. I plan on doing some game tech type stuff properly on my game thing channel starting next month. This will mostly be how to stuff, game capture, editing and stuff like that. I’ve also been lucky enough to get the pre-order for the PS VR2, so will try and find a way of using that to help build my game thing channel, although I’ve never used VR before so that may be a bit of a none starter. I’ll let you know if I put any tech type game videos up, things like capturing and codec stuff etc. You definitely wouldn’t be interested in my gameplay :) I’ve done some bits and pieces about the Ninja V and some of the BM stuff, although my Ninja stuff has been quite critical as I’ve had three of them over the last year or so that have had problems. There maybe some stuff of interest in this YT search kzbin.info?search_query=atomos+ninja+v+david+harry If I can think of any of my codec and encoding videos that may be of interest I’ll post you some links. Take care. Cheers, Dave.

I'm 44. My first console was the Colecovision Adam. We had that when I still lived in Spain. We only had cassette games. Never owned any cartridges. When I came back to the U.S. I had very limited experience with cousins' Atari 2600 and a Commodore 64. I knew your name was familiar. I watched your Atomos videos before I bought my Ninja V. I'm also preregistered for a PSVR2.

not surprised u have the 35w version but you could have opted out for a better 3050ti like the 75w version or a 3060 which is miles better but if you want longer battery life then i cant refute your reason for buying this model with a 3050ti 35w

Not my only laptop. There are playlists with my Strix G17 RTX 3070, Strix SCAR G15 RTX 3080, TUF A15 RTX 2060, plus others with iGPU's.

It's quiet for a gaming laptop, but you can hear the fans. However for this video I wasn't playing in Turbo Mode which spins the fans faster.
