Until the surface or this gaming surface look a like. Has a full android app store (not amazon) I have zero interest in them. But that's my view ofc I will never buy a convertible touch screen laptop without this. And Microsoft needs to get with program. Apple MacBook air has some ios apps (and doesn't have a touch xcreen) so it's coming soon. So Microsoft better catch up Or once apple makes a surface look a like with full ioss apps (and axes its ipad) I will leave Microsoft and not be loyal anymore

Asus is doing a tremendous thing messing up the tablet market. This is not for every one , but whenever someone is crossing the 1600$ mark, they will have a look into this. In some years, this price will go down and become more viable all the users. I was very excited to see this in CES.

This is exactly the gaming machine I was waiting for…I spend almost half of the year traveling. And I love playing games with my friends and alone sometimes. This ultra portable and ultra powerful solution match my needs perfectly. Is it expansive? Probably, but it’s unique and it does what he promise to deliver, so if you travel a lot like me and like gaming, this is t,he best you can get out there in my humble opinion!

I've been using mine for the past 3 days - i900H, 3050ti and if you love tablets and also want an ultraportable powerful gaming device you will love this. Just look at it as a slightly more expensive and thicker Surface Pro 8, but far more powerful.
@jayinhd4296
@jayinhd4296 2 жыл бұрын
@@AdmiralBison if you actually price in the i9 Processor, GPU, the added Keyboard, GDDR5 Ram, and 1tb m.2... it's wayyyyyy cheaper than the Surface Pro 8. The 1tb version of the surface pro is $2140 on best buy as of right now. That's without the type cover, just a i7 processor and 16gb of ram. No GPU either. Lol. As far as tablets go... This by far is the most powerful cheapest. Simply because of the i9, 3050ti, and type cover coming with it.

A lot of people still don't understand or get the 'Tablet' form factor : Surface Pro 8, 12.9 iPad Pro, Galaxy Tab S8+\Ultra etc... So naturally will not see the value or use case for something like this right away. However for tablet lovers that also want power to AAA game - I RECOMMEND this. I know because I've been using my Z Flow 13 - i900, 3050Ti for the past 3 days playing Fallout 4, Elden Ring, Star Craft II, Halo Infinite and PS3, Xbox360 and Switch emulation. The screen is good for 13" and you can get away running the latest AAA games at 720P to hit those 60 fps.

You can get an eGPU for the SP8 as well, and for other laptops. i Think that I would wait for the SP9 and get that setup as MS has better QC and integrate software and hardware better. Plus it is not as oot-there as the ASUS, that will maybe give the wrong impression at the office.

@@andyH_England I traded my SP7 for this Asus and couldn't be happier - I considered the SP8 but it's slower and more expensive than the Asus, and while the SP8 does support an eGPU since it (finally) has Thunderbolt the latency and bandwidth limitations of TB make a desktop 3080 eGPU slower than the mobile 3080 in the Asus add-on (not to mention the compactness of the Asus XG eGPU makes it portable).

I game on my surface pro just fine. I have so many games in my steam library (don't we all) that relegating the less strenuous games to my surface works for my gaming workflow (for lack of a better word). The bigger titles I don't want to play on a tiny screen anyway. I want them on my 22in at LEAST or my console. Kinda like the way I treat movies. I don't mind watching an old jackie chan movie on my surface or a couple anime episodes but if I'm gonna watch The Batman, it's gonna be in the theatre, Turning Red? My front room HDR display. There's nothing wrong with buying one machine that can do everything, you do you, but if you have the means to buy a flow for elden ring then you have the means to buy a nice TV and a console and play it in style the way it's meant to be played. But to each their own.

Great review, interesting device. I'm not a gamer but do a lot of multi-media stuff that uses a gpu, but not at the level of the most demanding games. So it's in a middle ground -- in between no discrete gpu like the Surface Pro 8, and a full-on gaming computer, which is overkill for me. I'd like to know how the inking/painting experience is on this. That's another feature I use a lot on my Windows devices. Anyway, thanks for an informative and nuanced review!

Can you use a different dock if you just want to run like 2 or 3 monitors on it? I'm not familiar with Asus laptops so I wasn't sure where with surface everything runs through that surface port and you get pretty much nothing else. Thanks!

16:10 is the correct aspect ration The reason TV's are mostly 16:9 was to cut costs 16:10 is far superior for a monitor

Biggest issue for me was the poor response from the screen. Deal breaker for me

So... possibly a stupid question. Anyone know how well this runs VR? I used to use a ROG laptop to run the original RIFT, but its been so long since I've touched the headset that I don't know what the state of it is, in terms of hardware required to run. With and without the eGPU, I'm curious if anyone knows. :)

They should not include a keyboard in the box or support it at all

This thing is AMAZING. Unlike an expensive gaming laptop, they’ve somehow, through nothing short of a miracle, made the keyboard go bye-bye!

You lost me at $1899. There are literally better gaming laptops in a more reliable form factor minus a third the cost.
