No need for a part 2 as you already found the fault and the fix. This was a great tutorial for diagnostics of these cards. The usual faults were not evident. I was looking for burns on the DR's but not paying that close attention to the solder connections. I will from now on. This reminds me of the time a while back that you found a hidden fault on a chip simply because it had lost its solder contact. The fix was easy as all you had to do was to heat it and bump it to flow the solder and make the connection more secure.

Nice Job Boss Just a reminder By experience I found out shorts on thin lines get hot but Shorted lines do not get hot when they are found under or within thick layers of components

I think still posting the non fixable video would also be good, as we would still gain a great knowledge from how someone of your skill level tracks down issues and the most important thing is that even the best don't always manage a fix. That is a great reassurance for some of us, I guarantee it 😀

There is a similarity between the shop and the kitchen. When there are finger marks in the cake frosting you can check the fingers of each and every kid for finger frosting blobs to find the culprit. However most people don't have as many children in their family as that board has MOSFETs.

Hey Alex, have you considered making a small side circuit that only sounds a loud beep when the circuit detects an unusable battery voltage for your microphone? With your diagnostics ability, it may be enough to create such a circuit, or even use a micro arduino board to let you know the battery has died on ya. Or, if you prefer, toss it out to your youtube community as an event. Whoever makes the smallest circuit for the model of your microphone receiver that holds the battery, wins. Wins what? I donno, I'll leave that up to you. Would be a huge annoyance off of your shoulders though

Why do you want to keep a dead chip in the device and maybe blow a capacitor on the side, by soldering and then desoldering again the bad one and then soldering a good one? It's taken out, you know it was taken out, and you'll just stress the capacitors just twice.

Why would he, what would be the point of finding a faulty component, removing and soldering it back? That's back to square one.

Why not put back the nail in a punctured tyre after you remove it? It doesn't make sense. You repair the hole.

Why use batteries for your mic? You always record at your desk, just plug it in for AC power
