@@alectrujillo175 I've been at it for 2hrs now as I'm swapping out a psu as well... what a pain when you're just upgrading and not doing it in a fresh build. I have a questions about the vga cables, so you use 1 pcie cable for 1 slot on gpu, then another pcie cable, then do you plug in one of the extra pcie that's on one of the cables? so 2 main cables in the psu, but the 3rd on the gpu is the extended one on one of the cables. wow I sound stupid. just want to make sure I don't blow this thing up.

What I don't understand is why you only decided to measure decibels as you set the fans to 100%, when you acknowledged that wasn't normal operation. The card was running at a high clockspeed and at 100% fanspeed (which it would never default to in these operating conditions) only went to 61 celsius max. Why not test it in normal conditions (see what it defaults to) and quiet conditions (manually tune it to be a bit quieter, but hotter) to actually see what the noise normalized performance would be like, roughly?

Agreed, saying "noise wise, not the best" while the fans are at 100% is dumb. Any GPU will be obnoxiously loud at 100%.

I have one of these on order already but I'm considering cancelling it due to the coil whine issues that I've heard about here and in a couple of other reviews. Does it only Whine while under heavy load? Also it is really hard to judge just how loud it is from your video? Does the volume vary based on how hard the card is working? I'm also curious as to whether it goes away if you decrease voltage to the card. I picked the strix hoping that running at stock it would be quieter than a TUF given the higher end cooling but coil whine drives me crazy.

I have this card and absolutely zero coil wine. Not all the cards have this problem. Oh and if you worry about noise, dont. This is one of the quietest card you can get for the FPS the games run at. You cannot get as much performance for lower noise except if you water cool.

Have you ever experienced a 1 de-synchronized outer fan on this card ? My card has the right one (the one opposite to the video inputs) being completely static on idle on windows 11 desktop while the 2 other fans are spinning. It is only when the load increases that this fan starts spinning like the others. And also when I start the computer they all spin but once windows 11 has booted the right one stops. Kinda weird to be honest

Make sure you have a proper fan curve. Whats strange is it should be in gaming mode out of the box so it should have a pretty decent fan curve already.

Your mins on 4k are pretty bad. This is the only benchmark i've seen with 30-33 fps mins. Do you think that's more to do with your cpu/ram on your personal rig? Most test benches use 3900x/10900k with 3200/3600/4000 cl 16 ram. Just curious.

High end SKUs for GPUs are NOT binned. They are simply pretested. If you took a TUF chip and put it on the STRIX cooler it would likely perform the same.

10GB is enough memory. Even the most demanding 4k game shouldn't even hit 10GB unless the devs messed up (like flight sim). Upcoming tech like MS' Direct Storage will dramatically reduce VRAM needs, not to mention upscaling options like DLSS. Don't worry, we'll get 20GB cards in December, but only via AIBs, as they'll be happy to sell you more VRAM than you need.

Go to the seasonic power wattage calculator. Because the psu depends of your cpu memory ssd fans and graphic cards every single cards connected. Normally for ryzen 3900x and 3080 5 fans ssd and hdd and 32GB ddr4 and all your usb devices. it recommends 1000w psu because it will be over 800w usage. Be careful these cards are overclocked istick and draws already 370w a cpu overclocked will bring you over 750w easily. I recommends the seasonic prime gx-1000 you can get it for 268$ canadian dollars. It has the 6 pcie 8 pins. This psu will be perfect for your machine.

So if you can just toss headphones on and just game with it, imagine it’s not easy finding 3080s. My strix 3080 whines a little, it’s also ima custom loop which makes it a bit louder to.

Your case has a max GPU length of 315 mm with front fan mounted. The ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 has a GPU length of 319 mm. So it appears that the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 will not fit in your case, unless you remove the front fan. Taken from newegg answers but double checked the numbers they're correct.

I ordered mine on the 25/09/2020 and it got shipped yesterday on the 13/10/2020 and I got mine from Scorptec so there’s a good chance of you order one you’ll get it reasonably quickly but don’t quote me on that

I own this card. The fans are loud but the sound is tolerable. I used to have the 1080ti ftw3 with the ICX cooler and this thing was much louder at the same % of fan speed. I can run the 3080 at 90% fan speed and not hear them over my other case fans.

@@TechSavvyBuyer It's barely readable on my 55 inch TV. Excel is fine for tables and graphs, just change the font size etc. Different colour bars with a key to each colour, rather than trying to fit the text next to each bar etc. Other than that, great vid. I've a 3080 OC on order myself I'm waiting for.
