Asus VG248QE Display Port Fix (Temporarily Need 2nd Monitor or TV)

A solution to the Asus VG248QE no display port signal glitch. Need a second monitor that is DVI. I believe that I also solved the glitch using a monitor and TV that had hdmi. Basically, any screen device that isn't display port should be able to work in with this type of solution.

R.i.p me my new strix 1080ti only let's video come out of one port and it works perfectly. But if I switch to the other display port on the card it either flickers like crazy or just doesn't show an image at all or part of both

It worked, if you dont have DVI you can do it with HDMI, I did that and it worked!!!

If your using an hdmi for a PS4 you need another hdmi plug. Idk about pc but that’s how you fix ps4 problem

daym that worked great, thanks for that. i was running a dual screen set up, my asus through display port, and a shitty samsung monitor through dvi. they used to work fine together, and now i can only run only either one at a time. weird.. know any fixes? cheers for the good vid tho, helped heaps and id prefer my asus to work over my samsung haha

On some GPUs only certain combinations of ports can be used at the same time. I'm pretty sure I ran into this with my RTX 2080 and I had to use a different HDMI port in order to get it to work with the displayport output.

Ok guys it's 2023 this problem happened to me and I managed to solve it in a super weird way, I tried powercycle several times, no solution. 1) plug your monitor to your pc with a HDMI cable and run it (Unfortunately I didn't solved with this because with this HDMI I can't reach 144hz ). So now you are in windows connected with your HDMI to your monitor that is not working anymore with diplay port right? 2) Now connect your old Diplay Port back, and once it's connected, unplug the HDMI from your monitor, after doing this my dumb monitor automatically switched on the Display Port like nothing happened, 6 fucking hours troubleshooting and now it works x)

You can also completely unplug the power from your monitor, wait 15 seconds, then plug it back in.

Hello I need help I Know I am really late. I have a vg248qe and I play on xbox and I am trying to get 120hz and when I use a adapter it starts to go and black and I need to wait some seconds and it turns to normal. It Always happend when I turn on 120hz is that the monitor?

What type of adapter? Its best to avoid using adapters. This monitor supports 1080p at 144hz so 1080p at 120hz on an Xbox should be no problem. I would try without an adapter and connecting with an HDMI cable, then making sure your Xbox is set to 120hz at 1080p

@@DexterMorganxz I have used that type of adapter on Lenovo all in one tiny computers that had dual monitor setup. Just have to make sure the USB is connected and supplying power. From the age of the monitor and it being HDMI1.4, seems like people are unable to get 120hz from the HDMI port so an adapter will have to be used so it goes through DisplayPort or DVI-I. I found a thread, it states how to set your Xbox manually for 1080p at 120hz. Also, it mentions how they used a HDMI to DVI-I cable to get 1080p at 120hz so if you cant get your current setup to work, you could try that type of cable. Sadly, this monitor doesn’t support 144 hz over an hdmi or dvi-d cable, hence why I tried to use a DP-HDMI cable adapter crap

Christopher Castellano Right, I was thinking of trying to use the HDMI cable, log yourself onto your Windows desktop, then unplug the HDMI cable and plug in your DP to HDMI cable.

I've had this monitor for years and have had the same problem from time to time. Turn off on the power button, unplug power cable, press and hold power button (you will see a short light on the power button). Plug power cable in and press power button. Voila. Works for me every time.

I have the same monitor that is using dport, I have an older monitor also running on dport, and I have a projector using HDMI. I've had this problem many times and this is the log book I've been writing. 12/18(about) Problem: dport (no signal) Solution: I Restarted computer. 12/18(about 1 week after) Problem: dport (no signal) Solution: unplugged monitor for a few minutes until the orange light turned off, then plugged back in. 2/18/18(about) Problem: Monitor wouldn't turn on. Solution: switched the dport cables around so they were all different inputs. 3/18/18 Problem: dport (no signal), orange light wouldn't turn off when unplugged. Solution: Nvidia Control panel was missing, reinstalled, went to set up multiple displays, the box wouldn't check, so unchecked and rechecked other boxes and hit apply, then the box would check, hit apply. 4/23/18 Problem: dport (no signal), HDMI works. Solution: Steps to fix the Display Port: 1. Turn off the computer and either unplug it from the power source or turn off via the Power Supply's power switch. 2. Turn off your monitor and then unplug it from the power source. 3. Wait 30 seconds. 4. Plug the monitor back on, turn it on if it doesn't do so automatically. 5. Plug the PC back on or flip the PSU switch back to on. 6. Turn the PC back on and if this fix is applicable, your Display Port will now work again. NOTE: Make sure no other video cables are plugged into the GTX 1080 or other GPU. Just have the faulty Display Port plugged in with the Display Port cable connected to the monitor. Also, if you suspect driver issues, connect the computer via HDMI or DVI and reinstall the display drivers again. You may need to use older drivers if the newest drivers are breaking your ability to use Displayport.

Try using an HDMI or DVI cable, turn on your computer, log into Windows, then unplug the HDMI or DVI cable, then plug in the display port cable.

I have the same MOnitor. I had the problem, that my PC wouldnt boot with the DP cable plugged in. It seems to be a problem with the cables, that have the PIN 20 active. SO I took the advice of the internet and bought an expensive cable, that should do the trick..... it didnt! What I did was take a fkng fork and bend down the 20 Pins on both ends of my cheap 9€ cable AND IT FCKNG WORKS PERFECTLY. But I am a little concerned. Good thing is, my GPU is old and I plan to replace it soon so I am chill. But someon please tell me how on earth I can find a cable that works?

@@agustinalvarez152 I've had this monitor for 3 years and occasionally it does this. Best way I've found to fix it is to unplug the monitor at the wall the LED lights will stay lit for a minute or so and just press the input select button to run down the capacitors. Then power back on and it works fine, a bit frustrating but does the trick. I think my unit has finally failed this weekend, now looking at replacing components for repair or I'll just buy a new monitor and be done with it. Hope this helps, good luck.

Skwiff thanks for answering, but isn’t working for me, and like two days ago all of the sudden worked but the pc didn’t recognize the monitor and labeled it under “generic monitor pnp” and capped at 1366 60hz. Is it true that this monitor doesn’t support hdmi 2.1?

Tranqs Login to Windows so you're at the desktop then unplug the monitor from your video card, after that connect your display port monitor.
