Got it sorted....the video was really helpful for all the disconnections and connections. Great for a 63 year old with virtually no knowledge of such things 😀

I already replaced the screen, but I watched your video again with pleasure. Very sensibly filmed. Good luck and thank you for the lesson.

I wanted to thank you very much. At my job I had one of these laptops with a busted screen and needed to reformat the drive. Your instructions helped me temporarily swap the monitor with one from another x205t to do what I needed to do without screwing up. :-)

Hi RunningRed, do I need to install new drivers if I replace the screen? Mine works but its cracked so I want to replace it too!

Perfect video! Well edited, all the directions are super-clear, and your diction is terrific. Thank you.

Very good video. It was immensely helpful in replacing my broken screen (replacement purchased from Screen Surgeons of course!). The only thing I would suggest adding is that the hinge cover is not symmetrical, and it was not obvious to me at first which way it needed to be oriented to get it back on. (Also the hinge cover seemed a little harder to get back on because most of the sticky foam tape/pad from the back side of the bezel that snaps around the panel had come off, so the gaps that the little plastic tabs on the hinge cover slide into are not as deep as they used to be. I had to push down firmly on the hinge cover to get the tabs to engage enough to slide the cover into place.)

Thank you very much! Although i wish this actually showed puttinf in the new screen, it was still an amazing help. i replaced my screen from just following your video instruction.

Good video, I just want to point out two things: 1. Hinge cover is not symmetrical, so make sure to remember which way you removed it 2. Pay attention to wire routing! There are several ways to screw it up during reassembly!

Hey, where's the ssd? I didn't see it, thanks

the ssd is soldered onboard, you can't exchange it without a proper rework station.

Where did you get the replacement?

Excellent video, thanks. In the latter half of the video you can see the two famous little metal or hard plastic tabs or protrusions next to the hinges. These are the things that stick into your table when you open up the lid of the laptop when you're using it, and scratch your table surface. I still can't see what purpose they serve, yet ASUS insist they must be there. Could this be the worst design decision/bodge job ever?
@ForViewingOnly9 жыл бұрын
ForViewingOnly Just an update: after my comment above I ended up buying an ASUS X205TA for my Dad, and the little plastic tabs haven't really caused a problem at all. Maybe not the best design decision ever, but I think they chose to make the X205TA smaller than other 11.6" screen laptops, which meant that the tabs were needed to stop the laptop toppling over backward when the lid is opened.

+ForViewingOnly Bad design for stopping the screen from folding backwards. Do you guys have the Audio issue with something auto leveling the high sounds and lows.. Its so annoying, and Ive turned off every built in option and tried everything. Realtek, Asus or Windows 8.1 causes this and I can't figure out which one did it.. I'm thinking ASUS has some software in the UEFI that creates the Auto volume leveling and it makes me want to pitch it. I just wanna run Ubuntu or another Linux distro.
@philtowle46833 жыл бұрын
The bad design is not being able to replace screen without removing base even though there is a socket on the screen.

The RAM can not be upgraded in this model. No matter how good you are with a soldering gun the cpu in this model only supports 2 GB. Buy a fullsize laptop for about $100 more if you need more memory.

+LUCIANR81 It aint happening without a soldering iron and an engineering degree. Memory is soldered to the board.

I really don't. If you need more, then move up to a different machine. This is great for just zipping around the web, but it's not a gaming rig. It wasn't meant to be.

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JPJMRDA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 ^ this replacement screen also works on X205TA. Two things tho. 1. It won't be glossy anymore 2. you will have to scissor off the top right hinge.

I just bought one of these and it's sad that Asus made everything one piece.. So if your ram fails.. throw it in the trash..if your hd fails.. throw it in the trash, if your cpu fails throw it in the trash.. My last EEE book had a removable HD and Ram and this is basically a big tablet. I paid 169 for an open box and its cool. I'm not a fan of 8.1 and windows 10 wont fit unless you do a fresh install.. And it uses a 32 bit UEFI firmware instead of BIOS and the motherboard is 64 bit! 10gb Recovery partition that will brick it if deleted.. Tried.. They cheaped out so much and changing the bios to UEFI sucks for trying to install other operating systems.. There is a problem with the audio fading in an out with some auto leveling software running that is untraceable. I hate this volume problem! If anyone can tell me the Auto volume leveling problem I'd suck your haha jk, but seriously. I tried different drivers, every built in option. Searched through the Registry forever.. Movies get loud when its quiet and then it turns the volume down with its loud. I hate built in equalization being a audiophile.....I like to customize everything, usually with Linux but this machine needs a special booter for 32bit UEFI.. .. Thanks for showing me the inside of this little thing. I think I will sell it and spend 300 and get something a little better.

***** mine didnt have enough space to update to 10 so I just left 8 on it.. I tried a couple Linux Operating Systems but the drivers for the wifi and touchpad didnt work
