Hello. I have the X55C 2328m Hd Graphics 3000 model. Which processor is the best for my model for the game? Should I get the i5 3340 or is there a better one? Which fit my model. Thank you.
@OFFbitTech4 жыл бұрын
There are few more cpus that are faster, though they can cost a lot more. All of the CPU have the same on board Graphics being intel HD Graphics 4000. Which has a lot better support for APIs like opengl d3d etc.... over the HD3000 Plus the extra performance. But still nothing like a newer nvidia gtx card. The higher series cpu's in the i5 and i7 do have higher Boost frequencies on the GPU. Which would give you better performance in games. Here is the wiki link for the i5 cpus for 3rd gen en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i5_processors#%22Ivy_Bridge%22_(22_nm) and here is the link for i7 cpus for 3rd gen en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i7_microprocessors#%22Ivy_Bridge_(dual-core)%22_(22_nm) There are 2 types of i7 these being 2core 4 threads or the QM / XM series have 4 cores and 8 threads giving you way more computing power. These are the top cpu's that you could fit. We can not guarantee that all of the QM cpu's will work but we have had a viewer confirm that the i7 3630qm worked very well for him. @@abdussametduru FPS is frames per second. The more fps you get the smoother the game will feel. The I7 QM is a lot better cpu then the i5 3340m. We chose the the 3340m because of it value. We purchased it for $10 Aud with delivery. It can play Minecraft Bed Rock Edition smoothly. The main reason why we bought it. In regards to goin with the i7 3630QM. It will come down what you use the computer for. Extra cores and threads will help out with multi tasking, video editing mainly. It will help out in newer games but the intel HD graphics is not a very power video card. To really play a lot of newer 3d games you will need a decent dedicated graphics card in which you don't have that option with this laptop unfortunately. So I'm sure the games that will utilize the extra cores wont be able to run with the intel HD on board graphics. However 2d games like Stardew valley, Faster than light, Star bound should run fine. The other thing that will make a huge difference in this laptop will be upgrading to a SSD hard drive. An SSD will make the whole operating system feel faster and snappier. Programs like word and excel will open much faster and so will games. I hope this can help you on your upgrade. Thank you for watching.

You should be able to upgrade to an i7 cpu, the socket type the motherboard should have is Socket G2. Now it's also worth noting that some CPUs and motherboards in this series use a BGA-1023 this is a soldered on package. Most of the X55C motherboards and i mean about 99% of them have been socket g2 which is the literal socket which you can see in the video. We had one report that someones asus mobo had the soldered version of it, which i believe would be rare unless they had a slightly different model of laptop (not an x55c but another X55 like laptop). The I7 cpu's that you should be able to get working are. Sandy-bridge (Dual Core) i7 2629M i7 2649M Ivy-Bridge (Dual Core) i7 3520M i7 3540M The Quad Core CPU do take more power and should work but we have not tried any yet, but we have had successful reports from other viewers. Sandy-bridge (Quad Core) i7 2630QM i7 2670QM i7 2720QM i7 2760QM i7 2820QM i7 2860QM i7 2920XM i7 2960XM Ivy-Bridge (Quad Core) i7 3610QM i7 3630QM i7 3720QM i7 3740QM i7 3820QM i7 3840QM i7 3920XM i7 3940XM for all the options check out Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i7_processors#Sandy_Bridge_microarchitecture_(2nd_generation)_2 Just make sure you get a CPU that is Socket G2. Also it's worth noting that the x55c do support 2nd and 3rd gen (Sandy bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs). 3rd gen gives a bit better performance for the same cpu frequency but the biggest advantage is the onboard video that comes with it is much better but still not as good as a dedicated nvidia or amd video card. @@OFFbitTech could I solder it together? I have the N2830 I think
@OFFbitTech3 жыл бұрын
@@Paraz1tul Unfortunately it is a fairly complicated task to do. BGA components are basically heated on. So you don't actually use a soldering iron. They usually have to place a heap of solder balls down firstly to put a new chip on. They are heated on (soldered on to the PCB/mobo). Then they put the chip on by heating it up on the PCB until it's soldered on with all the balls on the PCB/mobo. I believe this is the process or something like that anyway. The removal of old CPU is done by heating up as well. It's a real balancing act of overheating and just enough heat to melt the solder just correctly. People do offer such a service where the do use equipment designed to do so, such as a re-balling machine. Unfortunately it is just to complicated and probably too expensive to change over in our opinion. Though upgrading to an SSD drive if you have not already and getting up to 8gb of ram may be enough to help out with some of the slowness of the laptop. But unfortunately this about as much performance you can get that we can think of with out going down an expensive route of re-balling or just replacing the laptop. We hope this helps.

@@Soviet_Stalker_Men We cant give you a definitive answer. But it should work. So no exact answer but the steps we would do in trying so. 1. Upgrade bios to latest firmware from Asus website. 2. Upgrade CPU and try new CPU and see what happens. 3. We really hate how more and more laptops have gone this route. It's a real shame. My suggestion would be to build a desktop machine. Parts are more upgrade-able they are also made more for performance rather than power saving. Also you don't need the best of the best to get something that can play games. From what we can find the X55sr is a core 2 based system. We could only find little information. You should be able to upgrade the ram up to 4gb of DDR2 sodimms (2 sticks of 2gb DDR2). The motherboard looks like it's a socket P motherboard so any cpu from the socket p socket should work. The best cpu that will fit and probably work would be the Q9000, Q9100 or the QX9300. These are the quad core cpu's. Not sure if the laptop will run them or not but it should. The hard drive in the laptop should be a SATA drive. SO upgrading to an SSD drive should be easily enough to do and will probably give the most improvement to how the laptop feels in windows. Adding newer ram and putting an SSD are probably going to be the easiest things to do. CPU changes always require a full strip down of the laptop. However it is probably time to change the thermal compound on the laptop. So even a CPU upgrade will while you are there would be something worth considering if you are redoing the CPU compound. We hope that helps. If you could tell us anymore specs on the laptop like what cpu is in it, how much ram etc.. We could probably let you know what we would change. Thanks for watching.

@ Rocky Chow, I usually look at what CPU I already have (you can use cpu-z for this, good piece of software to identify what CPU you have). Then look it up on wikipedia (usually i'll do wiki i5 list in google search or something like that). Once you find the CPU on wiki I look at what socket it is. So Sandybridge and Ivybridge cpus are usualy socket g2. There are some pitfalls to also look out for. Some laptop chips are soldered on, they are writen down as bga (Ball Grid Array) on wiki. Ok now you are in wiki you can now see what other cpus fit your socket. Now there are some other things to look out for. mainly that HM70 chipset does not realy support i3 i5 i7. Hm70 is budget chipset not sure if there are others with out looking... the i3 i5 i7 work on hm70 but the laptop will shutdown in 30mins of running.

OFFbit Tech Thanks for the reply, very detailed. Actually, I just found that a website called CPU Upgrade. It lets the people to search what CPU used right now, and what CPU can be upgraded. I am looking at the CPU i7-3615QE. At your option, do you thing that the CPU can be used on the X55C?
@OFFbitTech4 жыл бұрын
ok in wiki it's showing the i7-3615qe as a bga version. If you see a picture of the CPU, just check to see if there are pins out of the bottom of it. if not it wont fit up. It's also uses 45 watts, which probably be ok. the chip set supports it though. Might be worth googling around as well

Yes you should be able to. We did have a viewer say that he did have a soldered CPU on his laptop, so there maybe a small chance that your laptop does not have the socket on it but most likely it will be like this motherboard from this video. If you follow the steps in this video it should get you upgraded. For a list of "socket g2" cpu's check out Wikipedia. You want the cpu's that support "socket G2". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i5_processors#Ivy_Bridge_microarchitecture_(3rd_generation)_2 We hope that helps, Thank you for watching.

Good day, did you experience a reboot every 30 minutes when you installed the i7 processor?

I will be very happy if you answer

By the sounds of the issue you are having it sounds like you have upgraded the Asus X55A laptop or the motherboard is using the HM70 chipset. Unfortunately the X55A / motherboards with the hm70 chip set have a hardware level management engine that stops any cpu's greater than the Intel Pentiums running for longer than 30mins. There is a work around I believe for this but it is much involved. If you could check what chip set your motherboard is and let us know, that will give an idea if this is the problem. Thanks for watching.

@@halidcavlak2003 Unfortunately this is the Intel management engine rebooting your laptop. This has been done on the Intel express HM70 Chip set based motherboards. This is a painful thing Intel did to ensure that cheap laptops chip sets could not be combined with higher end laptop cpus i beleive. There is a way to disable the management engine but it is a complicated process. It may be easier to replace the motherboard with a similar one in this video. As the laptop from the video did start of with the X55A motherboard but it was faulty. We hope that gives you some options to help. Thanks for watching.

Can you tell me what's the best processor I can run in this thing. I got one of these for free. Is it possible to run a processor with 6 or 8 cores in this? Thanks for your time.
@OFFbitTech2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, The best CPU would be an i7-3940XM. This CPU might be very expensive being an extreme edition but you can get the i7 3xxQM CPUs at a good price. Basically, the best you can put in them is a 3r Gen 4 core 8 threaded CPU. Here is a wiki link to the 3r Gen I7 CPU List. I believe you should be able to run any of the Socket g2 CPUs in the laptop. I hope this helps, and thanks for watching.

I have one more question will the wattage matter the original chip is 35w and the one I found is 45 or 55W will that matter or no? Thanks for all your help. Greatly appreciated
@OFFbitTech2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonbiller2809 The wattage should only really effect battery life on the battery. Though the CPU will be faster at processing so you could argue it will use less time therefore saving battery. Now in regards to the 55 watt CPU (XM extreme CPU), we have not had anyone try the 55w CPU in this laptop yet. It may be getting to much power for the Laptop, since the laptop only comes with a 66w PSU to charge and run the laptop. Though it might be fine, just at full load when charging it may be a lot slower charging or it may not charge at all. But that will be at full load on the CPU which does not happen usually for long periods of time so in my thoughts it should still charge to a degree depending on CPU / GPU load. As for the motherboard bios knowing what it is we are not sure on that outcome yet. Also it might be worth getting the latest bios for the laptop if you can. We have had a reply someone having success with a I7 3630qm. Which is a 45watt cpu. So, from our feedback we know that the i7 3630qm works and so should all the 45 watt CPUs. The 55w i7-3920xm / i7-3940xm on the other hand is new territory for us so we are not sure what the real outcome will be. Jason let us know how it all goes in the long run. It's also worth mentioning that one person said there CPU was soldered on the motherbaord, but from all the boards I have seen this has not been the case but something to keep in mind. Thanks for watching and talking through your upgrade, the information that you provide back will help someone else down the track.
