small phones are kind of niche market,. previous zen phone probably didn't sell well so they opted to the more famous design. and adding another assembly line for a smaller version could be more costly.. so they just went with the safest design even if it means copying what other brand offers 🤷‍♀🤷‍♀

Too bad they didnt stick with a smaller phone.. now its just like any other big-a** phone thats a bit too expensive for what it is.. i think most Asus users will migrate to pixel phones... really good phone, quality video and photos and a cheaper price... personally the best for me is a small phone with a good camera...

Yup... Not a prior Sony user were you by any chance? I'm trying to escape them as I'm not obsessed with photography 😅. Want a big screen, want a headphone jack, really wanted a side finger print reader, if it still had that I'd probably have bought one. Have you used a ZenFone 10?

What's going on with the design of the phone? Looks like a 2001 Chinese local kids phone. The camera bump shape is so out of proportion with the phone. And then the camera lens sizes jump.

A 999€ phone shouldn't have these issues: - Photos with too much saturation and oversharpened - 2 years OS updates (4 years should be the bare minimum) - Weird design flaws like camera bump position with the phone body and lenses against each others It's great it has: - Amazing chip - Pretty good screen - Pretty much stock Android with great additions like some battery features - Video stabilisation - Headphone jack I would like a comparison against the One Plus 12

Where the bloody hell is that ratoating camera ? The best invention, very solid build and very useful. Although mine broke after the warranty expired it wasn't expensive (camera mechanism). I can't believe my Z7 make photos better than some new flagships

i would prefer a smaller phone, but i think i would benefit from the ultra/max/phablet sized phones more, so i would maybe consider picking up this phone, but my two biggest problems with it is foregoing the charger in the box and only 2 years of updates, it should at least be double, up to 4 years of os updates, especially at the price it was being sold, if it was a couple of hundred dollars less in price i might consider the phone but it's a no-go for me at around a thousand dollars, i appreciate they kept the headphone jack though

I really wish to ASUS try better with they software because in Asus Zenfone 10 sucks soo much. Users have so many issues with the battery, camera and more. Asus is very slow to improve or fix the issues on their phones. Photo in this new device are looking bad, too oversharpened, to saturated like always with asus ehh It's a pity because I was thinking about purchasing it, even knowing how long users had been waiting for updates and corrections to the previous model.

Only 2 year OS update, no accessories on the market, difficult to get repairs if it cracks - dead in the water if you ask me. 2024 is the year of Samsung - people are realising they will only spend money on devices that offer long term OS support, real life repair support, great cameras, the ability to easily find cases and other accessories locally, and a UI that gets updated regularly, like OneUi. Add to that ecosystem support and Samsung is best placed in the Android world to grab all the sales.

Nah, 7 years of OS updates is simply marketing, to justify selling the same phone for 3rd year in a row with just updated cpu. OnePlus 12 is so much better deal than both Zenfone 11 Ultra and Samsung, and it's not like you don't get updates, 4 years of OS updates is really damn long in a smartphone world. My wife is still using her Huawei P30 without any issues, and it's on goddamn Android 10.

@@Eihei I think 4 years is probably enough but if you buy it used and it’s 3 years old you will still get 4 upgrades. This means the Samsung phones will get higher resale value because people who buy them will still get upgraded. My old phone was stuck on 9 but my new phone went up to 13. 13 is much nicer than 9 or 10 because of the Material Design and everything is faster and smoother.

@@MrOrtmeier well, it's really hard to say right now. Pixels were the first to offer the longest os updates and they are losing value fast. Also as I mentioned, just because you do not have a new version of Android, it doesn't mean you can't use your phone. P30 is still on Android 10 which came out almost 5 years ago. And it's not a detriment on any way, since all of the recent changes in new Android version are very minor.

​@@Eihei If you use that old phone for calling and selfies only then that's fine. But you gonna have problems if you want to use bank apps. Banking apps, e-wallet apps and QR related are gonna need your phone's android on latest version (android 11 now if I'm not mistaken).

Such a pity about the size. I hate large phones. Gimme something I can use one-handed; convenient, like a mobile device should be. If the Zenfone 10 simply had longer updates, I'd be using it. (Currently using S23 basic)

Can't see the point in it if you can't extend the function of it with a desktop mode like Samsung & Motorola.. Even Honor has an ecosystem where you can touch your phone against your Honor laptop & it loads the phone screen up on your laptop to use. Are you really going to be able to knuckle down to some hardcore video editing on a 6.8 inch screen? What use is the 16GB of ram if you can't really put it to work?

This is a huge misstep from Asus. For the launch price, 2/4 years of updates is very lacking compared to other brands. And I doubt many will be clamouring for this model for its AI features. Extremely disappointing to see them dropping the compact flagship.
