These are good if you have an Asus router. My question is, I have two cat6 on the ground floor only. So at least two of these will be wired backhaul. Third unit will be on the top floor connecting wirelessly. Will the third node take a big performance hit? scenario 1: Main node will be center. one node to each side will be cat6 wired and across the same floor. scenario 2: Asus router will sit in the middle. Then two nodes will be cat6 wired to each side of it with the third node on 2nd 1st floor.

I have a three floor house where the modem is located in the attic. Would a wired aimesh node in the attic with two on the lower floors over wifi be a good setup? I also need wifi in the backyard.

We currently have an Asus RT-AX3000 router and we are looking at setting up a mesh network by purchasing a 3 pack of ASUS ZenWifi XD5 (AX3000) units. Is it better to use the RT-AX3000 as the main router and have all 3 XD5's as satellites? Or use one XD5 as the main router, have the RT-AX3000 as a satellite along with the two other XD5's? At first I thought it was simply adding all the XD5's as satellites. But then I noticed the RT-AX3000 has a listed wireless transmission speed of 2400Mbps, whereas the XD5's have a listed wireless transmission speed of 3000Mbps. The RT-AX3000 is also connected to a switch to provide wired connectivity around our house (TV's, desktop PC's). Thanks in advance for any advice, tips or suggestions!

Hello, I have a Asus RT-AX82U and would like to use Ai mesh. Should I use this product? I would like to have the RT-AX82U as the main router and the XD5 as nodes. Will this work? Edit: ISP>Modem>Asus RT-AX82U> CAT 7 wired to XD5 > Wireless to XD5 nodes

Yes it should work, you just need to setup every XD5 as an AiMesh node, not as a wireless router

@@Behfor Hi thanks for your response. I found that XD5 to be an expensive option for me, so I opted for two RP-AX58.

I just hope Asus won't cut off the 6GHz band when WiFi 7 version of this arrives. I want to get a future WiFi 7 version of the AX86U as the main router, and scatter around some of these MINI ZenWifi nodes around, without losing the full WiFi 7 bands 🤞Btw, does Asus already support Fast Roaming (802.11r)? I mean, let's say you're on a video call on WhatsApp or something and roaming around the network. Will the transition from one node to the other make the call drop or cut off momentarily?

You're worried that asus would turn off the 6ghz band on this because a new wifi 7 model is released? That would cause a class action lawsuit. The asus roaming is spectacular, but your devices would need to be compatible, as much of the roaming experience has to do with the particular phone you are using and its capabilities.

@@superedge99 Well, I don't know. It's Asus :D They might say "oh for these MINI ones, we couldn't fit enough antennas, hence we decided leaving the 6GHz band out. Go for the BIG/main ones if you prefer that functionality". That's why I'm worries

@@razorgcy I think I originally misunderstood you, I understand what you're saying now. I think that the 6ghz is very limited based on distance it can transmit. I decided to make my main centrally located router a 6e router, and all the mesh points are xt9 units (wifi 6). This way I can typically be connected to the 6ghz and only once I go outside my home in the yard does my phone connect to 5ghz or 2.4ghz All my mesh points are pushed to the edges of my house to give me plenty of coverage outdoors as well as inside the home.

Just curious which free iperf server on the internet you used?
@Behfor
@Behfor Жыл бұрын
Its my own server, it's a simulated internet connection in my lab. The server network card is 2.5 Gbps so I can make sure the bottle neck is not the internet when I run the speed test.

What should I do if I followed the setup and it does not work? I don't have an asus router is this mandatory? It doesn't get any internet connection even tho I added my isp settings

I tried NETGEAR - Orbi AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System Model RBK763S which should cover 7,500 sq ft but didn’t make any difference in our home which is only a little over 3,000 sq ft! I then returned to Costco and a refund of $550.00! Btw I tried both Ethernet and Wi-Fi, despite our 1000 fiber speed internet, there’s still some latency in our internet while we use only 2 devices, but we have about 16 security cameras! I wonder if that could be the reason of our latency and sluggish speeds!

The cameras are most likely 2.4 GHz and if that's the case you should only use the 2.4 GHz wifi for the cameras and other IoT devices and use the 5 GHz band for your personal devices.

@@Behfor All security cameras are set on 2.4 based through DVR and accessed by NVMS7000 App! I thought fiber internet would be faster, but idk what went wrong! When I check speed it only reaches about 600 mbps and not a 1000mbps which is what I’m paying for
