I loved this song as a kid. I stil do, since I'm stil a kid. My grandpa used to sing it during the Festivus. He used to say, it's Festivus, so he's singing it for the rest of us. He passed the kidney stone last year. I miss him every day because he always take the wrong bus and never gets off at the right station. They don't make music like this anymore, they make thousand times better. We need more videos like this because it taks less bandwidth being only 360p. This song will always have a bittersweet meaning for me. From the day it was released I loved it. A few months later my father passed away. The day of his funeral I was driving my mother to the church, as we turned into the road the church was in, the song came on the radio, it ended as we pulled into the parking area. I haven't heard it on the radio for years and years. On christmas eve (2019) around 2pm my mother was taken by ambulance to the hospital emergency room, where she passed away at 5pm. I returned at about 9pm to sign some documents and meet the undertakers. As I turned into the road the hospital is on, "Shine" came on the radio - The sense of deja vu was overwhelming. Tears came gushing out & I could barely see the road ahead - coming very very close to driving onto the sidewalk and into a traffic light. The song ended as I pulled up outside the emergency room. She didn't want a funeral or memorial service. I chose Aquamation instead of cremation for her, and told the funeral home I would be attending on my own. I copied a few of her favorite songs to my phone to listen to when the Aquamation began - I included "Shine" on the playlist. I spent a few minutes with her saying my final goodbyes, then knocked on the door to let them know they could take her through and start. I watched them take my mother into the room and close the door behind them. I put the earphones in my ears and walked to the garden outside. By chance, "Shine" was the 1st song to play, and her Aquamation had had began.
