When USCIS returned to issuing 540-day extensions on April 8, 2024, they also announced that people whose receipt notices only state "180 days" were also automatically given 540-day extensions.Because you applied for a work permit between October 27, 2023 and April 7, 2024, your receipt notice says that your extension is only 180 days. However, according to USCIS, you can still use this receipt notice as proof that your work permit is extended for 540 days. You can show your employer your receipt notice and this USCIS webpage (www.uscis.gov/eadautoextend) . We know that this is confusing. ASAP has told USCIS that they should issue new receipts that say 540 days to people in this situation. But unless and until USCIS does so, you can show your current employer or any potential employer that website together with your receipt notice. I didn’t apply for it before but Uscis sent it after winning the asylum. I will have to renew it. I also applied for permanent residency and waiting for the result. However, you do not need a work permit as an asylee because after you win asylum, you can work legally. If you are using the online application, yes, USCIS recommends creating a separate USCIS online account for each of them.
