Wow only 18, he could definitely reach maybe 164 naturally if he did sports/worked out. You don’t stop growing till 25. Best of luck to him.

They check his growth plates before doing the surgery. If they are closed, that means he can't grow naturally anymore.

But they are not silly, the doctor check his MRI and saw that is bone are closed, that's mean he cannot grow anymore...

It all depends on the growth plates on the long bones. If it's fused, then you can't get any further height
