If government was interested in moving towards renewable's this car would be a large step in that direction, 90% could afford this, sell their car immediately, buy some extra solar panels and never burn fuel again. I could live with that as a daily driver, the furthest I tend to go at once is 90 miles a few times a year, the rest of the time no more than 10 miles a trip. If it could do motorway speeds it would be perfect but the 62 MPH would be pushing it as I really would need 70 at least. I like the little car and most of the time it would be used as a work horse.

@@Electric-Rideables That will hurt the sales in the UK as people won't want to have two cars, one for motorway and one for town when they can buy just one car to do both. Just for the sake of having it hit 75 it seems a design flaw. If they do make it to Europe I'm sure they can derestrict it or change the gearing to get that little extra speed. I also looked up the bigger battery one can do 105 miles on a charge,

This dorky little eco car is a more important step towards a cleaner, greener future than any overvalued tech start-up. People who can afford Teslas were already likely having far less climate impact than they did 25 years ago. Meanwhile the per capita carbon emissions in growing nations has been rapidly escalating. Having inexpensive EVs in places like China and India will be part of the equation for truly combatting climate change.

As battery tech improves, we should see long ranges and quicker charging for such little cars. Love the idea of a sub $5k EV. Nui has a similar concept only it'll be $8k with a ridiculously cool design.

I don’t know why people refer to the Wurling Honguang Minni Van as a toy car or a golf cart. It’s bigger than some of the small cars driven during 1950 and 1960, and these small cars sold by the thousands. One example is the BMW Isetta. This small vehicle would fit inside Honguang Minni Van with room to spare, and more than I60,000 of these cars were sold. In England the Austin A30 was a popular small car, as was the Morris Minor, The Hillman Minx. The Fiat 500 , was another small car that would fit inside the Honguang Minni Van. The small Volkswagen Beetle was popular worldwide. The Holland Bjering Bedelia was a small car where the passenger sat in the front and the elevated driver in the back, and was popular as a police vehicle., The advantage being the police driver, sitting in the elevated back, could keep an eye on both the road ahead and the unwilling passenger in the front. There were many popular brands of small cars sold during that period.

Overall decent summary. But no sense to discuss the car without its user scenario or target market segment. It was originally introduced to China as mass-market solution for senior/housewife around-town mobility served previously by no-brand golf cart makers - hence the budget and size emphasis. As it took off, it started to grow into the Asian urban-runaround/second family car segment exemplified by the Japanese K-car. Lots of potential in similar international markets like Europe and developing countries.

If this car landed in Europe and the US at this price, I swear that many gasoline vehicles will be eliminated quickly, because this has already happened in China, the streets are full of electric vehicles, and the entire lifetime battery warranty policy, especially now with high oil prices. case

How fast can it go? Can it get to 60 mph (96 kph) and so be at least minimally suitable for highway driving? Also, a suggestion if they want to sell it in the US: Just leave out the almost unusable rear seat and sell it as a two-seater with a bit more cargo room. Now that the Smart4two is no longer sold here, it would have that market all to itself.

Not sure of the legalities for here in the US. If it does ever arrive they'll probably sort the registration out then. As for service, not much to service on EVs.

I hope the #NissanSakura micro EV starts selling world wide soon. It's selling in Japan and if I understood well, is around 10.000 USD.😍 And I don't understand why the Renault twizy it's so expensive and have no windows nor wheel fenders, it would be a great great city car not only in tropical weather countries 😂 This car and it's price is tempting, but I will not spend a penny in Chinese economy if possible!

When you look at other city cars Citroën Ami smaller slower and more expensive it's looks a lot better we have to think that these big EVs are good but they use a lot of battery's and we will just end up running out of raw materials what with Tesla trucks buses and other heavy vehicles if you can use a smaller car the better

sorry about that. yes, the top speed of the wuling ev is 100 kilometers, or 62 miles, per hour. def won't keep up with a tesla, but it'll get you where you need to go.

Why is everyone focused on price only?????? Tata never made it because of safety concerns. How safe is this bugy? How fast can this bugy go? Great point. However, there is a different refueling workflow when it comes to filling up/recharging EVs. When you are home you plug your EV in, you can even plug them into regular 120v outlets, and every time you leave the house you have a full tank/charge. So, charging stations are only needed when you plan to drive further than your regular daily commute... imagine leaving your house with a full tank EVERY DAY and never having to stop at a charging station or gas station. That is the future of the EV.

Yeah, but is Tesla going to make a 5k car? Wanna bet? I bet no. American and EU auto makers and regulators are trying to shovel not only expensive, but difficult to repair and maintain cars, with a lot of infotaiment BS. Not only in electric cars, but now in ICEs too. They don't want to provide you a cheap and easy to maintain car. It's basically the motto of the entire western industry: Make your customer captive. And then you have a problem and they have an horrid customer service. I.E. in Spain more and more tesla owners are going to 3rd partys so they can get their car repaired properly and without spending several K. Even if this 3rd partys have to go into hacky ways to do it. This is the state of the current industry. You're a cow, and they're going to milk you as much as you can, it doesn't matter how much they screw you over.
