It could also be a case where you got to weigh if its even worth the effort. How much money and time would it take to go after the money and how much can you realistically expect to see back? After a point you got to weigh just the lack of possible returns and the energy required to engage more after you finally escaped. I've heard stories where some men got rinsed at divorce court by spiteful ex spouses but claimed it was a fair price to pay to just be done with it, it could be a similar mindset?
