While walker may not be the most efficient war vehicle, the empire was all about intimidation and terror. Seeing a 72 foot / 22.2 meter mechanical beast slowly and deliberately lumbering towards you is psychological warfare and terrifying.

Walkers in a real world war scenario might not be the most practical, but they definitely would be intimidating to go against. Which, people have used intimidation tactics to scare enemy troops.

The AT-TE on the other hand would be perfect for a concept. A vehicle with 6 legs that can climb any service with 4 anti infantry weapons on the front, two on the back, and a main turret. Not to mention troop carrying.

It would be so cool if one of the KZbinrs who posted ATAT walking sounds could edit them to make them sound more like they might actually sound like. If you watch a video of an elephant walking, it's not one step, then another, then another. It's step-step in quick succession and then another step-step. I would love to hear the above sound effect made to be more like that!
