A local Mennonite family told me that you can take whole black walnuts hauls and all ( if you have a tree) and soak some in water and remove the black walnuts and give that to your animals as water source and they will be dewormed. I never have tried it myself but was told it's an excellent way to deworm. I do have lots of black walnut trees but always forget about trying it when the black walnut trees are full of nuts.

I have seen/read to use Basic H original not basic H2. Joel Salatin - the chicken tractor guru has mentioned basic-H classic Shaklee soap in his books as a dewormer for livestock. I would caution using Basic-H2. I do the classic basic-H and administer once every 4-6 weeks for 7 days straight….only source of water they drink. Do it just before and during the full moon works better.

The seeds from pumpkins and other winter squash are also natural dewormers. I feed them to my rabbits, turkeys, ducks, and chickens at least quarterly (along with the vegetable itself). It works for goats and dogs, too, according to what I've read.
@Bigfamilyhomestead9 жыл бұрын
Lucky Robin That's interesting! Do you have any idea on why it works?
@luckyrobinshomestead9 жыл бұрын
They have a compound in them called curcurbatacin that causes parasites to be expelled from the body.

I will add one thing that is more important than what you use as a wormer, and that is COPPER! Copper is essential to goats to maintain a strong immune system and to make ANY wormer more effective. If you goat is deficient in copper wormers may be ineffective. You can have your goats blood tested by a vet or just provide them with a mineral supplement for goats, that contains copper.
@SilverSage1979 Жыл бұрын
Copper is deadly to sheep, so if you feed your goats alongside the sheep, best to give the copper separate. Cheers!
@Rattlerjake1 Жыл бұрын
@@SilverSage1979 - That's why most goat owners use copper bolus, so do most cattle owners - you know for sure they got enough copper.

@michellesmithunroe24638 ай бұрын
I've heard of people using Dr. Bronner's castile soaps (one who uses another brand because it doesn't contain jojoba oil) but no one using SalSuds for internal parasite control. The spruce and fir species used may have antihelminthic effects but, since they're plentiful in my area, I just offer pine and red cedar. Green acorns and oak leaves are good sources of tannins, which are helpful in eliminating parasites.
