I don't necessarily agree that the house shows too much "good taste," which for me is the problem. (It's a lot of nouveau riche, which perhaps is what you are also saying, in calling it bourgeois--which I think you're right about). However, I do see your point. As Sir John Richardson once said: “I think it’s important to have a few really hideous things. Otherwise, it looks like too much ghastly good taste.”

The serving scene reminds me a little of the movie “The Help” where the servants disappear into the atmosphere. There is no acknowledgement, no thank you, no smile. Yes, they are paid so I guess common courtesy to the help is not necessary. I think the home is nice but you’ve featured many more beautiful homes that are more in line with mainstream living. I love your videos though because normally they make one feel good and give us all some great ideas on how to make our living environment more beautiful.

Well that's economical! We always use Donald Kaufman paints. His whites are (supposedly) mixed with a wider range of pigments - premium pigments which (supposedly) handle light in a more lively fashion. Then again, the Slatkins may have used a Kaufman color mixed by a Benjamin Moore retailer. It does NOT look like just any ordinary white. I agree. It's perfection (as is everything about this particular segment).

A lovely house and I am one of the people who would vote for a longer version. If some lack the concentration, could you post two versions? Or release the longer versions on DVD? Please, I cannot tell you how many pages I have torn out of books (maps and engravings) and had framed. Its a wonderful low cost alternative to expensive art, engravings and/or photographs. And it looks like she can afford to buy another book, lol.
