He should step down, he was a terrible campaigner that tried to put the NDP to the center on things like the budget and FAILED. They started leading because people recognized that the NDP was the true progressive party but Mulcair didn't see that, previous party leaders such as Dion and Ignatieff stepped down as well and this case is no different. The NDP need to stay at their roots as a more progressive party than the Liberals, but they will not form government until the electoral system is changed and the NDP loss was partially on the basis of the electoral system.

Jack Layton was hugely popular. He had respect across the country. And he couldn't even make opposition. Mulcair hasn't got the charisma Layton had. He should step down.

Layton did make opposition though. It took four campaigns but still

Mulcair is such a dork, but I still can't help but dig the Dude. I really love how outspoken he is about hating racists & how he spoke about banning Drumpf from Canada, like during press time! I like how angry he is. Maybe not the most admirable trait, but considering how passionate this past election fired up to be, it was welcome amid the idiocy of the CPC. Maybe I am a little endeared to him because I voted NDP, but I voted early & ended up feeling a little embarrassed at the showing. I don't care that he lost, as long as CPC is out of the picture, but after I voted, there was really nothing to keep me motivated. I started liking the NDP Campaign less & less, just due to the dorkish quality & frankly childishness of it. Great to have a sense of humour, but maybe after you've been defeated instead of while you're trying to usurp power from a toxic, racist, fascist, criminal government. But I think he didn't really want to be PM. He didn't want to try to balance a fucking Harper budget. He just couldn't take Harper anymore. I feel like his lack of taking responsibility after the election really magnifies that. And if I had worked as hard as his staffers did, I'd probably be a little choked at him too! But I don't want to see him go. We need an angry Mother Fucker like him in Parliament, with a great Heart, to represent for great people. He's a fuckin' sweet dude man!..for a politician. And frankly, unless the NDP's got something else as good or better, I don't see why they'd press it...He also said he wouldn't cancel that Saudi deal either. Hmmm. I guess Weed would be uncriminal.

What is a lesson that current and future political party leaders can learn from the rejection of Tom Mulcair @ The federal NDP’s 2016 convention? Simple: do what Tim Hudak did by offering your resignation and a plan as to how you’re going to turn over the reins to your immediate successor.

Mulcair has twice shown himself to be unclear on the concept of political leadership. Canadian citizens are free to weigh in on international elections and ongoing domestic court proceedings. Canadian leaders are not. Thanks, Tom, you just made both the Liberal and Conservative leaders look good, and all they had to do was not comment.

There's a part of me that hopes Tom Mulcair both hangs onto his job and defeats the Liberals in the next election, if only to expose how fickle both political parties and the media can be. Before the election, Trudeau was seen largely as a lightweight and unproven; now he's seen by much of the media as virtually unbeatable. Conversely, Mulcair was seen as the NDP's best chance to lead them into power; now he's seen as not having a chance in hell to beat Trudeau. It'd be hilarious and weirdly awesome to see Mulcair prove everyone wrong and up-end the apple cart.

As far as I know Politics takes more than borrowing an idea of "Touring", it should still lead to more votters on the "Balatte".

If Andrea Horwath survived, there is still hope for Tom.

Horwath ran a muddled and uninspiring campaign that reduced her party's power. Mulcair has definitely done that.

I am a NDPer who has thinking that the campaigners of his office told him what to do .. rather than what he personally represents.. He to me I would say I am a supporter of him.. He is a true person .. I have respect for that, rather than others telling him what and how to do things.. so I hope some understand.. cheers ..
