Especially when considering the fact that he basically blamed Winston Churchill twice there for him losing his seat (first, because Churchill was one of the main figures behind the National Insurance Act of 1911, when he was in the Liberal party; and second, because when Churchill was elected in 1951 he did not reverse Labour's welfare-related laws, like the NHS)

That is, he tried and failed. Baker has a Christian altruistic viewpoint which revolves around duty, he seems to feel he has done his duty and can escape. If you remember he said why he went into politics and it wasn’t a career move. It seemed to me he was never very happy with that sacrifice in the way many are.

The conservatives need to accept they lost not because of woke people, not because of young people, not because of poor people, immigrants, LGBT folk. They lost because they didn't meet the needs of the people and the country, they failed to boost economy, they failed to maintain people's living standards or at least mitigate harm from inflation, they failed to cut funding to the NHS which many elderly rely on. They have failed to create council housing, they were letting prisoners out early because they did not fund properly abd did not try rehabilitation poverty also drives crime. It's their decisions that lead to downfall they can't blame others. Had they mitigated cost of living by providing financial support to those struggling, price caps on energy bills created council housing years before. He wasn’t a sore loser. He said nothing negative about his opponent or the election process. He’s sore about the establishment of both parties that led voters to turn against both of them. For now they turned against Conservatives more, but Labour has lost plenty of support over the years too. The 2017 Corbyn Labour Party was more popular than this one.
