@@errolgrey9210 Definitely. Especially when considering the fact that he basically blamed Winston Churchill twice there for him losing his seat (first, because Churchill was one of the main figures behind the National Insurance Act of 1911, when he was in the Liberal party; and second, because when Churchill was elected in 1951 he did not reverse Labour's welfare-related laws, like the NHS)

He stood for election in a seat he's held for 14 years and had launched his leadership campaign to take over from Sunak on the assumption that the Tory's would lose and that he'd still be an MP. Now, after losing he says he's relieved that he's no longer an MP. Where is the principle there? You must be incredibly naive if you believe him. Sunak walked peacefully to a sedan that would take him to Buckhingham Palace to concede to King Charles III that Sir Keir should get to, with UK Labour having been elected to a landslide, form government. Mr. Trump urged supporters to use violence on Capitol Hill just days before his 1st successor was to be sworn in and was DESERVEDLY impeached by the House of Representatives for having done that.

The conservatives need to accept they lost not because of woke people, not because of young people, not because of poor people, immigrants, LGBT folk. They lost because they didn't meet the needs of the people and the country, they failed to boost economy, they failed to maintain people's living standards or at least mitigate harm from inflation, they failed to cut funding to the NHS which many elderly rely on. They have failed to create council housing, they were letting prisoners out early because they did not fund properly abd did not try rehabilitation poverty also drives crime. It's their decisions that lead to downfall they can't blame others. Had they mitigated cost of living by providing financial support to those struggling, price caps on energy bills created council housing years before. @@theknightswhosay Can't disagree. However, for me, it all depends upon which metric one chooses when regarding action/outcome upon the basis of popularity. After all, what is 'popularity'? it is not a singular construct. I was looking at it from the perspective of the disdain Baker had of Osborne whilst failing to acknowledge he was, equally, if not more so, a reason for Britain's failure. All the best.

Reform will hold the government to account and hopefully expose the insular civil service and the all too powerful pressure groups which are a thorn in our democracy.

Did a tory (ex)MP really just say - "unfortunately it'll be the poorest and those with no other means of support that will suffer from this labour government " Who, if anyone, has suffered from 14 year's of Tory rule more than the poorest and most vulnerable?! Years of devastating cuts aimed at services that help the poorest, cuts after cuts after cuts. What is that man smoking?
