At least 49 dead in fire at building housing workers in Kuwait

A fire has ripped through a residential building in Kuwait, killing at least 49 people.
The building was filled with labourers, mostly from India.

I was a U.S DoD Contractor in Kuwait and I've seen first hand how the Kuwaitis treat third country nationals, and for the Kuwaiti Minister of the Interior to put on an act like he's concerned is just an act, it's nothing short of hypocrisy; believe me he knows full well of the substandard living conditions there. These are old apartments housing up to ten people or more per room. The companies are cheap in furnishing apartments for the employees/contractors cramping them in like a can of "sardines", it's slave labor in Kuwait, like "Roots 2024"!

I don't call it a slave labour, no one was taken to Kuwait by force. They knew the condition when they boarded a plane. Its all over M/E, cheap labour from India, Pakistan, Philippines and Bangladesh are coming in flocks to earn dollars to send them to their families. Its a labour market that allow Gulf countries to treat people from Third world poorly. It's supply and demand issue! It's up to their third world governments stopping the flow and demand a decent living standards for their citizens. I am saying that, because my son is a teacher in Kuwait, and he's doing fine. Better than when he was in UK.

Normally every room 5 or 6 people. In middle east, you can see as many as 20 people in a room. There is no security checking, the govt kind of do blind eye

Situation is not pretty much different in all middle east countries . All the labour camp rooms are filled by 10 to 15 people. The government of Kuwait did not even extend a helping hand to thefamilies.

Not only Kuwait it gcc all country all worker stay one room 6/7 sometimes more up it's violation labor law but what they do must need to listen sponsor 😢😢 GCC all of the country never following labor law it's police department ministry of labor And foreign minister eavryone know But nothing responsible They always responsible own citizens even thousand times violation of labor & Like prison & jail if anyone work at housemaid Sexual abused, work hard without rest , unlimited time work hungry & tried even without SLP I'm work now EU it's really best but GCC only who's always violation

Is it Kuwait is very poor country. Workers come from other country. What kind of care they get from kuwait. Worker's rooms who has fired is not finishing. How kuwait government allow to stay there. The people who was struggle in there own country and they ready to carry any pain and strain are affected by fire. Any one kuwait rich is people is not affected in the fire

Consider the impact of offering just 2 lakhs to the family of a deceased individual, while wearing clothes that cost more than 2 lakhs each day and incurring daily expenses exceeding 10 lakhs. Instead, there should be a focus on investing in human resources. While the GCC countries are known for their harsh treatment, the Indian government is seen as even more oppressive.
