This network is not viable. Too many chargers needed because it takes to long to charge, unlike the much shorter gas filling times. Gas stations can be attended, but these unattended charging stations are like sitting ducks, and Tesla hasn't budgeted for securing them. This pattern will spread across the country. Tesla's only choice will be to post Optimus guard bots at the stations, armed with Tesla flamethrowers to thwart any would be salvage thieves. Tesla will be bankrupt before then, however.

@ollicars I have the Free Nights plan with my power company. Here in Houston Texas there are several companies that do similar plans. But I do have solar and home batteries to power me during the rest of the day when I would have to pay. I have not paid for electricity in 4 years.

Obviously this hurts the drivers who don’t have the ability to charge at home, but then to, there are the other non Tesla Charging stations. If you set the destination before going to the charger, thus pre conditioning, the system should alert the driver that the charger is out of order… Tesla has cameras in their vehicles, maybe they should install them in their Chargers too… Feels like dinosaurs fighting extinction… 🤔

Not if they have a normal car, then they don't have to worry about any of that. You rarely see an out of order pump, they are repaired quickly because they make their own money, not dependent on subsidies whether they work or not.

I first heard of this in the UK. Someone is clipping the cords on a whole lot of charging stations, regardless of who operates them. Not sure what they have done about it other than putting the charging stations under video surveillance and running them more like a gas station with attendants.

I've owned teslas since 2015. Literally the only cars I've never had a problem with. My family has a 2015 and 2018 S, and a 2018 X. Why haven't we purchased any since 2018? That's when Musk revealed who he is. I'll never give him another dime. They all have over 100K miles, no problems. When they die, I'll trade them in for any other Electric car that Musk doesn't benefit from.

I'm not sure what to do on the superchargers, but I've always been bewildered on why they just don't have users attach their own 1772 style cords "untethered" level 2 to chargers like in europe. (See Mennekes)
