Millions of people are still without power in parts of Texas after Beryl, now a tropical storm, tore through the state and caused destructive tornadoes. At least eight people are dead.

Imagine if this had stuck the area as a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane instead.... people better wake up! There are too many people living around this area and a far too vulnerable electric grid and poor to sub-standard homes people are living in. It is not a good combination. I scoff at a Cat 1 hurricane, I worry about a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane coming across the Gulf at us though! Just saying. 😕More people is NOT better, the law of diminishing returns has been activated a few million people ago already!

its amazing, so many hurricanes go through there, I was there for hurricane Harvey, no one took it seriously then, and no one one took it seriously now, until everything is flooded, way over built, overpopulated asphalt and concrete jungle. its at sea level and flat.........where does the water go? Straight up....again. The power grid cant handle much obviously....man, I left in 2017 and never looked back, i knew it would happen over and over and over again....stay dry and stay safe!

Now can you imagine if everyone had electric cars.. or even half of that area did… no way. And the emergency services had to wait to charge batteries. I'm from Texas and I can tell you it wasn't that bad. We did, however, lose power because of trees knocking down powerlines. The places that lost power were generally older areas of Texas. Newer areas have powerlines traveling underground.

Texans shouldnt be complaining. You choose to live in a place that is prone to hurricanes, floods, and has extreme heat with 100% humidity. You were warned ahead of time and should have prepared to be without electricity for a month (like we did in Ike).
