She made the right choice to cut ties with such a toxic family, who until now had no interest in her until she built a successful career and immediately showed interest in her. So you did well to move on and put the past behind you. 😌

@user-kh6pk5pc8i CAN YOU BLAME ALICE? I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO DEAL WITH A MOTHER WHO IS TOXIC. I HAD TO KEEP DISTANCE UNTIL SHE GOT DEMENTIA AND PASSED ON LAST YEAR.

Not ever facing such a toxic family, I’m not sure how I would deal with it. However, I think Alice was right to put a lot of distance between her and her family.

You may not have to permanently cut ties, but you definitely have to remove yourself to heal & get perspective in order to arm yourself for future encounters.😊

It’s always best not to be in a toxic environment. So make sure you get yourself out and just make sure to take care of yourself so that they are toxicity doesn’t get on to you.

Agreed. While this was far from being the most toxic environment in these story arcs, it was toxic enough that Alice needed to remove herself from the equation. She knew she couldn't succceed when being constantly in the sister's shadow, and under the proverbial microscope of the mom. Alice was also right for exiting the scene when they reunited years later. The mom and sis tried to pressure her to help the family that always made her feel like an outsider. Saving the family wasn't her responsibility, nor should it be. Also, it's unfair to play the family card when it's convenient. That's what Claire and Laura tried to do, and it was wrong. Eventually, they seemed to start understanding that they themselves are responsible for their own happiness. Nobody else. That seems a bit unique for these type stories. Most times the antagonists wouldn't get the point if they sat on it.

Oh, cutting ties was the only way I could SURVIVE after my mom passed. I haven’t seen or really spoken to anyone on my mom’s side of the family since 2006, nor do I feel any need to.

Sometimes you need to focus on yourself and to take time to heal . Op did just that and stepped away from the manipulation and emotional blackmail , she built a new life away from the people who wanted to use her to fix something that wasn't fixable . She made the correct choice for her and the rest of the family members who enabled her sister for to see the consequences of ignoring her for years .

I know this feeling . I was the only girl with 4 brothers and .the first girl born in 4 generations on dad's side of the family. But I always felt like I was still the outsider ,(because girls can't do things like boys can ) dad would ignore me unless it was to do women's work he'd say so. I was raised in a house that praised the men and ignored the women.

Sometimes you have to cut toxic people from your life for your own sanity and salvation. Even if those toxic people are family.

Not everyone can do math. Not everyone can do art. Some people are cut out for certain fields, and skills. Others, not so much. I myself was better at history and art, than math and science. It all depends greatly on the individual.

I had to roll my eyes at the fact the BIL was thinking about her because she was 'successful'. That's a trait women look for in men, not so much the other way around. Its something I've seen many women project on men and then are confused when guys are not attracted to a successful woman.
@ydcee3123
@ydcee3123 3 ай бұрын
Hmm. That view is surprising. Lots of men are threatened by successful women. They want to be 'the man'. I have seen marriages fail when the woman gets a degree and becomes successful. Many times, it's about control. That's one way domestic abuse is created. Get them to depend on you..... Then the other side of the coin. Lazy men who are looking for easy income so they look for a successful woman. Smart women can see this coming a mile away.
@rizon72
@rizon72 3 ай бұрын
@@ydcee3123 The threatening excuse is what women give when men don't find their successes to be an attractive trait. I'll put it simply, a woman isn't attracted much to a man giving off feminine energy so why should a man be attracted to a women giving off masculine energy? Again, men and women are attracted to different things.

I did had two people that love me, but they are dead now.

Laura and Claire, you both treated Alice as though she was always second best. The fact that you both allowed Kenta to seduce Alice went way too far. You three earned yourselves permanent solitude from everyone and everything.
